Leafs really need some more supportive offense. Can't always depend on Kessel & JVR night after night. I thought the 2nd line of Kadri/Clarkson/Lupul would consistently provide offense for the 2nd line.

d-men in other organizations I'd take as a stay at home: Roman Polak, Nicklas Grossman, Mike Weaver, Bryan Allen....
If I was going younger: Michael Stone, Brayden McNabb

- mykokes

The problem is, none of those guys are top pairing defenseman. Pretty much as good as Fraser......

Personally I think that line played very well. Came close a couple time. We're beginning to see the problems with have to of our best centres out of action.

Clarkson's just not the offensive player people hoped for, and Kadri should be with Kessel. So what if we end up be a one line team for the next 5 games.

JBo was the guy I wanted the Leafs to get. He would have been perfect.
- RogerRoeper

I actually don't know why the Leafs didn't sign Ference. Reasonable cap hit, solid veteran d man with a Stanley Cup ring. Would have obviously been a HUGE upgrade over Ranger. He's what the Leafs needed to sign last summer.

YUP Minny is hot. Harding is playing great in net. The Wild are fantastic at home, Gonna be a tough one for the Leafs.

I don't think we need a top pairing d-man, I just think we need a stay at home guy.
I believe Phaneuf and Franson should be getting the top pairing minutes (not necessarily together either.)

And Allen is much better than Fraser.
And Weaver is very similar to a Robidas.

Gardiner played great last night, one of the best players on the ice.

Whatever the case is, the Leafs NEED to make a move for a centerman with Bolland out for a few months.

I liked that he was actually shooting the puck, I think he ended up with just about 10 shots on net.

The bright side with Clarkson is in another 3 gp or so he'll go on a streak where he'll get like 6 goals and 10 points in 10 gp. That's always been his MO and why he'll never be a 30 goal scorer again. He is way too streaky, but the three hits a game he's averaging is encouraging.

They've barely played together as a line. Half of one gAme really.
Randy needs to leave the lender alone for a while and let Clarkson find some chemistry with Kadri.

I think well need to temper our criticism too, we've been short most of our roster for the entire season. Personally I'm not surprised Boston ran us down without Bolland and Bozak in the lineup. Also, where was Orr? Bodie was awful. Clarkson is trying too hard, at the moment he's his own worst enemy. His best game was against Jersey. Gardiner needs to step it up or he's got to go, but management needs to make a decision on him soon.

My preference would be Couturier, been saying it for a while.....I guess we'd have to part with Gardiner, although I like the guy.....have to give to get though. If the Leafs pulled off a trade for Couturier, and Adam Larsson from the Devils.....I'd be pretty happy.

If they can weather the storm and get Bozak back, things will get better. As much as I slag Bozak, I still think he's a useful centre to this team......especially on the 2nd or 3rd line. I still would like to see McKegg get a shot. I know he's not doing poop in the AHL, but I think he would benefit from playing with NHLers who know where they should be and need to be on the ice, which will allow him to show off his creative side a bit. Its not a long term solution, but there are more guys in the NHL than people think that actually put up better NHL numbers than AHL ones.

he got burned all night,,,the guy plays like a bantam houseleaguer...constantly pinching and when he does get it going he shoots it like a peewee houseleaguer...I don't get the love for this guy,,,he had like 28 shots last night and no scoring chances

Cap hit not reasonable for the Leafs at the time though, and I'm pretty sure ferrence had a say in the matter.

Why not? Couturier has 3 assists in 16 games this season, he also poop the bed last season.....can't really use the sophomore slump as an excuse at this point.....looking like he could amount to nothing more than a 30 point center, the potential is still there though.....worth the risk.
