It's still early in the season so my (very premature and uneducated) guess would be that he'll hopefully be back before the playoff. I've seen some soccer injuries where the broken leg (when broken below the knee) just hangs at 50 degree angle. Usually looks worse than it is. (Etc. see Henrik Larsson leg break on youtube).

I like eberle as well... but I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on Couts (a projected defensive 3C) for Yakupov (a projected Top 6 winger) especially with the depth the flyers have at center and their need for a scoring winger.

i'm a bit too young to have seen Theismans' (broken by LT i believe?) but Napolean McCallum of Oakland had a brutal one on MNF in 1994...

A basic or hairline fracture no. However a snapped bone will require surgical repair and most likely be a season ender while a compound fracture, if severe, can end a career. Compound fractures ended the careers of Joe Watson and Bob Dailey.
