The veteran GMs like Burke Murray Poile all know you have to pay a fair price to get a good return. It does not matter who does but once a team makes a fair offer you have a market. Fair value is what the market decides to pay.

a defenseman that's been consistently one of the best defenders in the game for the past 2-3 years...and is 24 years old (who is signed until he's 30 for only $4.7 million a year).

he's a star on one of the worst teams in the league playing against those true playoff teams.
