If we make that trade today and still finished last/29th I would personally fly from NZ to Edmonton just to take a dump on Katz's abomination of a child (and yes you can hold me to that) - WildMoose
The Habs actually might consider it. |

I know both sides will cry foul and disagree and say it could never happen. But, if there is one team out there that really thinks they could instantly convert Yakupov into a star it is the Canadiens. We also know that the relationship between Subban and management is deteriorating fast. So the trade proposal.
From Montreal: Subban and a #1 pick
From Edmonton: Eberle and Yakupov - spatso
Cannot see Mtl trading PK, Cannot see Edm trading 2 of their top RW talents.

The only problem is that even if every Oilers fan on Hockeybuzz stops, there will be more fans that will take their places. Law of averages tells us that the Oilers have to be good eventually right? RIGHT?!?!? - WildMoose
I am talking about people just staying home and sitting on their tix. Officially the tix are sold but with the seats empty in large enough numbers it will be noticeable.
After a few games the team will get the point that the fans wont show up to the debacle the team has become.

Mcdonagh is arguably a top 10 defender in the league locked up to an amazing contract.
Hall, or eberle+...and like I said, even then no.
Yak isnt that valuable to us because we want to win now and any trade that we make for yak will probably set us back before we get better from it. But we're winning games and scoring goals and nash isnt even playing. - rangerdanger94
A lot of people want things, doesn't mean it will happen. Back on the "stanley cup contender" thing again I see. 5 good games and you guys are cup contenders again? Two weeks ago half your fan base was calling for Sather to blow up the team? |

I agree with you but we need something to look forward to I only started following the Oilers in 2010 after I saw Ebs first goal I guess you could say I "jumped on the bandwagon" I've never seen the Oilers win anything apart from first overall picks so trading a bit of the future for a bit of now would go a long way |

I think we've all seen this before. From my experience it's usually a sign of things to come. We just experienced something along the same lines with Nino. Nino was completely mishandled IMO and i don't blame the kid for bolting. Every GM in the league knew we were dealing from a position of weakness and we diminished his value by giving him 4 minutes a night and having him play with garbage, I knew the kid was going to be good. It was hard to watch and perplexing why management would do something like it? To me it looks pretty much the same though Yak seems to be overreacting here(or Larionov). What happened with Nino was far worse than what Yak's experiencing. |

i actually think buf get alittle hosed on that deal. since your getting a ufa hemsky and klefbom vs signed myers and good prospect armia. i would not ask for foligno since he's close to untouchable. i say ott, but then buf has to take on another contract to even out numbers. - deks1
We would probably deal hemsky again at the deadline for picks anyways, I like armia too much to trade him. I'm not at all familiar with klefbom, although I love ott I could part with him. |

Next they trade yak for Crosby. - Yeti1181
Yak would probably do well in Pittsburgh, it would be interesting to see how Crosby does though... |

Oiler fans completely over rate Hall RNH Eberley and Yak. Having watched Saebs,Keith,Toews and Kane develop and watching these guys it's not even close.
Lars Eller said they look like a junior team and they do. I really thought they would be better
Three coaches in three years ... No interest in defence no goalies and now Yak wants out
Wow what a mess

That's generally what a team will look like during a rebuild when the players come right from juniors. If they fix their goaltending and defense they should be a better team, not a contender but better than they are now. |

Are you honestly trying to say that the Hawks didn't have any growing pains on the defensive side of the game? Right now Pat Kane is sitting at -4. I'm not trying to trash Chicago but comparing a team that has won 2 cups in 4 years to a team in the middle of a rebuild doesn't make any sense. Eventually some of the forwards will realize that keeping the puck outta the net is just as important as putting it in, goalie FA this year is deep, and Yak is in a slump. It happens... don't pretend Chicago wasn't a horrible team for a few years to get where they were today

Pens fans and Chicago fans seem to have short term memory? Not all rebuilds happen in four years. |

No this is a huge deal. Larionov is a highly respected but soft spoken hockey voice. When he speaks people listen.
He is saying to Edmonton coaching and management that he wants to get his guy out if they cannot get their act together.
Somebody earlier posted that Edmonton management has become so incestuous they are incapable of being objective in evaluating their overall team situation. The evidence of this is just down the road watching Calgary integrating some good prospects supported by some good veteran leadership and support.
I was a supporter of the original hiring of Mac T. But I have changed my opinion. A complete outsider needs to come in and make some changes that mixes the young with a balance of good veteran support. I think Mac T and all the ancient Oilers cannot be trusted. |

Oil fans and Islanders fans know this all to well I still can't believe the contract JT is on, you guys absolutely robbed him. That should be what every GM uses as a starting point for elite forwards |

Simply pointing out Hawks first round picks have produced results quickly
Toews is 25
Not sure Hall RNH Eberley ever will
But I do agree things should improve |
