If I recall correctly, the only reason he survived was because the team doctor had been in 'Nam and knew how to pinch the artery closed. - Morris
I believe as long as you get pressure directly on the wound or possibly jamming your finger in the wound ( can't remember why I'm thinking that). Where the (frank) is ruttugar when we need him. |

Have a looksie at the giveaways. Although Yak is no where near sound defensively or making proper choices, he isn't the only culprit. - ystoil
Of course he isn't, but it's not just the stat giveaway. Standing around or not backing checking isn't counted in giveaways. The other thing is while Eberle or RNH might be up there in giveaways they also are producing. Coaches will give slack to guys that are giving the puck away or making poor defensive decisions if they are doing something else on the ice.
Although I don't know that I'd be sitting Yak as of late, I could see why he was getting benched earlier. |

Fair enough, just wanted to bring another statistic to light I guess. It surprised me personally.
According to Dreger/Mackenzie on TSN last night, Florida has some players that could be dealt. Only off limits are Huberdeau, Barkov, Bjugstad, Gudbranson, Goc.
I'd have interest in Matthias, Fleishman and Kulikov. Hell even Bergenheim. |

I'd almost trade Schultz for Gilbert. Gilbert somehow is playing real (frank)ing good this year in a shutdown role in FLA. Of course we'd have to add as FLA has little use for a vet d-man like Schultz, but it would be something to look at. |

Fiddler has asked for a trade. Pick him up - andymaury
Would be putting a band aid on a stab wound. Wouldn't help all that much.
I'd be looking to trade Hemsky soon. Not sure if it's better to get a grittier or bigger guy for the top 9 or wait till trade deadline day and get a 1st or 2nd from a playoff team. I think I'd prefer the player. Then again, that pick could be a good chip to trade assuming we actually trade it. |

Adding a vet center who can win draws and play PK might be a minor move, but it's an upgrade. Considering it wouldn't cost much you have to make the call.
The problem is can we give Fiddler the role he wants? |

Likely not. Gagner hasn't been performing well (sure we can blame the injury) but still getting top 6 time. The Nuge will get top line minutes. Boyd Gordon has been excellent as the 3C. I guess he'd be an improvement at the 4C spot but as you said he wants more of a role. Don't see more of a role coming here since I doubt he beats out Gordon.

Just cause MacT has told the media hush last night does not mean that Larionov and co will be satisfied... I dont see this going away that easily if hardass Eakins continues the trend, we continue to lose and no change in playing time for Yak.... See Fiddler, Vernon |

He's a center who exactly is he going to beat that would give him more than the 12 minutes he is currently receiving? |
|
|
|
Thompson reported yesterday that MacT guaranteed he would not trade Gagner prior to when his NMC kicks in... that is very interesting to say the least... |

If fiddler was 4c instead of Acton, we'd play the 4th line more.
Even tonight's 4th of joensuu-Acton-Jones will get more than 6 minutes |

Well as far as current play its not like it would take much to beat out Gags in the faceoff circle or in the dzone... his play this year warrants decreased ice time not increased |

I thought of Acton too but is that not kind of expensive for a 4C no? considering the cap? |

That is disheartening. Gagner is a piece I'd be shopping.
Our top 6 will be Eberle, Nuge, Hall, Yakupov, Perron, and Gagner.
Unless that changes we don't improve. Sure we need to address D, but this needs to be addressed too due to the terrible mix of players. Throw in a gritty 2 way centre and all of a sudden it's a better mix. |

Sure, but you still have Arcobello who is probably a better fit at 2nd line center than everyone.
I'd make a play for Fiddler, but I'd talk to him and find out what the (frank) is up as he never was anything more than a 3rd at best and at 33 he can't be too (frank)ing picky. |

"Top 6" is dead imo. We should be thinking of top 9, which means adding solid defensive forwards regardless of offensive acumen. We don't necessarily need to move anyone, but we do need gags to get back to form |
