Although I respect Mr. Stewart for writing blogs here but just because he is an ex ref does not mean he is correct, TSN broke down the Granlund hit with 4 different angles and it clearly shows Kadri hit him shoulder to shoulder. He may have deserved a two minuted] charging minor on that play.

With that being said Kadri deserved a suspension on the Backstrom hit but I also question the league for not making Lucic an example when he took out Miller, the league had ample opportunity to bring down the hammer for suspension and failed to do so.

Tootoo got only 2 games for a worse, and more intentional goalie run (and is a repeat offender). Consistency doesn't exist in the NHL and this ex-ref is just following the thin blue line for his fellow zebras.

If a guy takes 10 "runs" in a game and they are all legal, clean hits then he in no way deserves to be removed.

Yes. There have been inconsistencies and bad plays that were let go in the past. Get over it. Cant justify not giving a suspension to one guy because another guy got away with something.

Weber, Keith and many others have gotten away lightly when others have gotten more than them. Kessel got away lightly. This deserved 3 games. Period. Move on...

Kadri was driving right through the crease. Backstrom was sliding and making a save. He wasn't just standing there hoping that Kadri would drive his elbow through his (frank)ing skull.

Wow I'm glad this written by a retired ref, because this is just flat out wrong. Granlund was doubled over with his head almost up his own ass, Kadri took 3 or 4 strides and kept his arm down, into the chest. Granlund is completely at fault for his positioning and I'm glad Shanaban got one call right.

Backstrom is a bonafide wussy, he's always hurt and there's very little kadri did except put his arms up as he collided with the goalie. They were both looking for the puck and didn't see EACH OTHER. If Backstrom got up and played the rest of the game, instead of acting like a grenade went off in front of him... this suspension doesn't exist.

On top of this, he's not a repeat offender and the incident was ruled a complete accident, so how does this earn him three games? Because he's a leaf, and Leaf players must be made examples of whenever possible.
