Ya not sure about that one...Even if sent to the AHL the kid becomes the best center prospect we have at this point(AHL)..

The more I look at that trade the more I love it.

Nonis did very very well.

I'm not sure if this has been asked, or even if I read this right..

But we don't want Liles, and mostly because of the cap hit he carries, along with his age. If he was younger and more dynamic, we would keep him, along with having a surplus on defense, it makes no sense to keep him.

So why would we do a 1 for 1 swap for a more expensive defenseman? Defensive D or not, I really don't understand this.

Kadri is ahead of him for the next 20 years.

Bozak (unfortunately) is signed for the next 20 years.

Bolland is way better.

Holland isn't a #4.

So....stopgap.

- Atomic Wedgie

And Bolland may never play for the Leafs again....

Why would anyone think Holland is a "Stop-Gap?" He's 22 years-old and has nice upside in an organization lacking centre talent.

Yeah this guy had long-term project written all over him.

Ditto. I came here to post basically the same thing.

So... we eat a poop ton of Liles' salary, screwing us for the next couple years, to acquire a more expensive defenseman signed for the same length of time who has been a healthy scratch on an inferior team?

Did I get that right?

Just a quick Q.

With all this talk of goalie moves something seems to be dawning on me:

There's only 30 full-time NHL goalie positions, and 30 PT positions. As it stands now there are only 3-4 teams who are in desparate need of a legit starter. EDM is one, but if Bryz gets it together then that's one more team off the list.

My question is whether or not we've reached 'peak-goalie'. Has the world raised enough quality goaltenders that the relative price on the market for one simply isn't as high as it used to be? Ottawa has Lehnar as their future, but Andersson won't fetch as much, so he stays.

Same with Miller, there aren't that many teams that are interested, and the ones that are, like ANA or STL, already have 1, perhaps 2 goalies who are decent quality, maybe not superstars, but decent.

So my question is, does the salary cap price these goalies demand drop as a result of this glut of tenders? We may have a couple quality goalies ourselves, and while there may come a time again where they'd be able to land insane money, the fact is that there simply aren't enough teams out there who really need a goalie.

It's starting to make me think we'll have Reimer and Bernee for a few more years at least.

I dunno if they're willing to retain all of his salary I'd bring him on board.

From what I gathered, it was either..

We eat salary to dump Lieles

or We dump Liles for Gleason.

Holland: don't see this guy sticking around once Bozak and Kadri are back. He's not a bottom 6 guy and McClement and Smithson fill those roles more aptly.

Still, might see something like this:

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Kadri Clarkson
Raymond Holland Kulemin
McClement Smithson Orr
McLaren

I actually like that the best while Bolland is on the LTIR. A 4th line that's actually useful (and Orr almost looks like a hockey player out there most of the time) and a 3rd line that has speed and can put up points.

Gleason for Liles makes sense as when the Ranger experiment ends, Gleason will be an upgrade. Hopefully if the Leafs get Gleason, it will eventually spell the end of Ranger.

I realize that Bozak & Kadri will be back eventually, but how is Holland suppose to develop & show what he can do plying on the 3rd or 4th line?
