What does Bolland hurt have to do with it? - honesthockey
Well HH, before Bolland got hurt they had three legit NHL centres (Kadri, Bolland & McClement). When Bolland got hurt, they had to find another centre, so they moved JVR to centre (which was a failed experiment), kadri went to line two (since Carlyle wanted to keep JVR with Kessel. But you know this already don't you?
Fact was JVR can't play centre. That does not mean that Kadri shouldn't or can't play with Kessel going forward.
And now that they have Holland, an actual centre, we'll never have to see JVR play centre again. |

So why move Kadri? - honesthockey
Because they wanted to see if JVR was capable of playing center so we wouldn't have a fourth line center as our second line center... he struggled and then Kadri got suspended. |

The question was answered. Can't dumb it down anymore. You want to be stubborn go ahead. But then I pose the question to you, why bother posting a question when you're set in your ways? |

Then why keep JVR as first line center if it was working so well with Kadri? Why set JVR up to fail that way?
Fact is that while in game 1 and 2 Kadri looked ok there. Then things started to change. Vancouver game in particular and Carlyle knew he had to try something different on line 1.
It was a no brainer for me to call Bozak back at 1c the second he returns. As much as you hate it it works.

No other options. Carlyle said it himself in an interview that he had NO other option. The chemistry was between Kessel and JVR thus far through the season, Bozak had hardly anything to do with that success. The main point of Holland at line 1 now is so JVR and Kessel can still play together but at their natural position. This is real easy for the rest of us |

Fact is, (if you pay attention) that the leafs lines move a lot, they try a lot of things. In Boston there was a new line put together every other shift. They looked for more flexibility within, could not find it and went outside for it.
Why set up JVR to fail? Did you not see any press conferences, it is obvious JVR thought he could do it, and the Leafs coaches wanted to see if he could. A reality check from time to time is an awesome thing..... |

Is this like your whole statement that Grabovski isn't good enough to be a centre on winning team? Or that he should go to the KHL? Or that David Clarkson is a first liner capable of 30 goals?
Carlyle had to try something different because Bolland got hurt in that Vancouver game. THat's what happens when you lose two centres in your top 9, and are left with Smithson and Trevor Smith as your options to center line one or two. So they tried JVR instead, based on chemistry and it didn't work. |

Bingo. We can write this ten times and HH will still maintain that the slump had nothing to do with JVR playing a position he sucked at, and it was all Bozak. of course he'll ignore the 6 games where Kessel had 7 points, or the fact that JVR scored 2 goals once he went back to LW.

not sure why we argue on here and bash are own players?
Bozak is fine, I don't think Nonis would have signed him or Carlyle would play him if he sucked. Same as Ranger I used to bash Ranger ( then was sent on some holidays ) but have realized that he is being played and was signed for a reason, that I haven't figured out yet, but they know much more than the rest of us |

I don't have an issue with Bozak. I think he'll do just fine on the second line. He's a decent player imo. I just prefer Kadri plays with Kessel, and if he plays like he did against Minny (minus the crashing Backstrom), I'll take him as our first line centre over Bozak any day of the week.
And this all started with HH saying that Kessel's slump is tied to Bozak being out. It's not. |

You know how many mistakes GM's and coaches make? You think there would be a buy-out option if GM's didn't make mistakes? Sure it's not now, but I could see Randy at the dinner table in 10-15 years saying how he can't believe all Nonis would do for him is sign Bozak for his 1C position. Btw I still strongly believe that he doesn't remain 1C after this season. |
