That would be awesome. I wonder if there are any rules about using a Goalie as a shooter?

Not sure but I doubt it. Soccer has goalies taking PKs from time to time. In hockey they'd just have to strip off their excess gear in a hurry.

Hate a burn your proposal but I don't see any way Kesler, Corrado, and 4th would land Giroux, let alone Giroux and Simmonds together.

Kesler, Edler, Hansen, 1st, 2nd for Giroux and Simmonds would be my proposal.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Giroux-Simmonds

Now we have a real top 6 and a transition plan for the Sedins. But even if both Kesler and Edler waived thier NTCs, PHI would still say no.

Kes for Giroux is even up.........id keep Hansen...trade Schrades instead.......

I'd rather see Torts send Lack out there in full gear!

(frank)ing bipolar

Some serious lunacy going on in this thread today.

Lots of people adding "fantasy pool and NHL14 manager" on their resumes and getting ready to send them in to FA...

Edler should have been traded before his NTC kicked in.
- Boinker

Especially if what Detroit was offering was remotely true. I think it was something like Smith, Nyguist, and Tatar with a few other spare parts thrown in there.

Ya I think they also wanted Carolinas 5th overall +

Edler and Kesler should be traded. Sorry, I love Kes when he's on, but he's had a summer to train and there's no excuses. He's lost a step. He's not creating enough room and separation for his shot. His contract is up soon and he'll be asking for more money. He'll likely walk if we don't give it to him. Which would most likely be the case given his current trajectory. He's not the same player and he never will be. He's still got a great shot but he's clearly not the same. He'll 30 soon and past his prime. With how lucky we got with Horvat and Shinkaurk now is the time to continue to reload. We don;t need to rebuild but get younger and different. Kesler and Edler's return would provide that.

I'd even settle for different. For ages we've been a D oriented team that has spurts of creative cycle offense. How great would it be to have a game breaker while the sedins are still playing well. In today's cap world it would be near impossible but an attempt at a legit scorer would be nice rather than all these players that have potential but aren't sure things (Kassian).

Kassian still might develop into a good power forward, I think the big guys often take a bit longer to develop.

I agree about the game breaker. Kesler shows brief glimpses of what he was (this year when he was first put with the Sedins on the wing at even strength), I am not against trading him, I wonder if we could do a deal with Columbus or Detroit. If he stays, we need more grit from him.

Like you said, easier said than done. But I agree. This team doesn't create/score enough off of the rush. That leafs to a low shooting percentage as a team. Compared to Toronto who only seem to create off of the rush(high shooting percentage).

Next year Shinkaruk gets a top 6 spot because of his creativity and nasty wrister. It is so sh!t pulling for next year in November. Feeling like an Alberta hockey fan.

Lets say theres trade opportunity with either the BJ's or Wings. Who do you see coming back for Kesler - Johansen?
Honestly nobody on the Wings excites me too much, but I live in the Australian bush so I don't see too much hockey - just the occasional crappy online stream.

The cost is going to be high to trade this year. Trades will be overpriced. I would prefer to be sellers this year at TDL . If we can let go 2 or 3 of these NTCs for a couple of 1 st rounders.

Maybe Kesler could fetch a roster player pick and prospect at TDL from Det Minn CHi St L Places close to his HOmetown.

Burrows to MTL for pick and prospect? We could end up with 3 or 4 first rounders

Gawd, I don't know, I have my Canuck colored glasses on and it is hard to objectively value the players on our team and what they are worth on another team. When Iginla was traded at tdl, he garnered a 1st round pick and two prospects. I think it is often easier on gm's to have a package deal going so it is harder to say this player was traded for that player if one turns out to be a dud.
CBJ has Ryan Johansen, a kid from Vancouver who has shown some offense in his rookie season and Brandon Dubinsky that used to play for Torts with the Rangers... I would prefer Johansen. I am even less aware of who Detroit could offer up, but they seem to develop their players more in the AHL and all of a sudden you watch them play and it is like, who is this guy, where did he come from, he is pretty good, has skill. I am not sure if it would be a big name like Franzan or a package of lesser names with Joakim Andersson and Tatar.

I think the core in Vancouver needs a little shakeup.

I don't know if Detroit would trade Franzan, he is similar to what many would like Kassian to be and hard to replace.

edit: sorry, I missed you actually mentioning Johansen in your post. If we trade away salary, I am sure we can expect some coming back.

Anaheim is slumping, Detroit as lost seven in a row, maybe they're panicing like everyone here and they'll trade us Pav & Zetterberg for Kesler & Burrows?

It was known from day one, by most of us, that this team as is can't be a contender in the West. It's just too good of a Conference! Unless they make a move for a LEGIT top six forward - what you see is what you get. At the end of the day it's all about consuming beer (or other things) this year.
