The cost is going to be high to trade this year. Trades will be overpriced. I would prefer to be sellers this year at TDL . If we can let go 2 or 3 of these NTCs for a couple of 1 st rounders.
Maybe Kesler could fetch a roster player pick and prospect at TDL from Det Minn CHi St L Places close to his HOmetown.
Burrows to MTL for pick and prospect? We could end up with 3 or 4 first rounders - VANTEL
isn't this draft supposed to be about as deep as TSN's Vancouver coverage? This year isn't for stockpiling draft picks.
as frustrating as it is for fans, it's going to take some time for the GM's to find the ins and outs of the new CBA - until then trades are going to be few and unspectacular. |

Gawd, I don't know, I have my Canuck colored glasses on and it is hard to objectively value the players on our team and what they are worth on another team. When Iginla was traded at tdl, he garnered a 1st round pick and two prospects. I think it is often easier on gm's to have a package deal going so it is harder to say this player was traded for that player if one turns out to be a dud.
CBJ has Ryan Johansen, a kid from Vancouver who has shown some offense in his rookie season and Brandon Dubinsky that used to play for Torts with the Rangers... I would prefer Johansen. I am even less aware of who Detroit could offer up, but they seem to develop their players more in the AHL and all of a sudden you watch them play and it is like, who is this guy, where did he come from, he is pretty good, has skill. I am not sure if it would be a big name like Franzan or a package of lesser names with Joakim Andersson and Tatar.
I think the core in Vancouver needs a little shakeup.
I don't know if Detroit would trade Franzan, he is similar to what many would like Kassian to be and hard to replace.
edit: sorry, I missed you actually mentioning Johansen in your post. If we trade away salary, I am sure we can expect some coming back. - hillbillydeluxe
Just thinking about Detroit and trades - when's the last time they made a signifigant trade that they lost. They're like the Amish - only dealing with themselves.
I don't think GM's really care about making it a package, they just want the most they can get - if a GM is worried about his rep or what people think, that gm is lacking sack and probably shouldn't be in charge of a McDonalds let alone a NHL franchise. |

I want to say GMMG doesn't have the stones for a major trade, but he has made some and for the most part lost some- Ballard and Booth and it is too early for the Hodgson to be declared. I think he may be a bit gun shy.
What I have been noticing while looking at player stats on team sites, is the deals in the American markets for games and gift packages. Prices are similar to the Giants, junior team here in Vancouver. |

How about a trade around Kesler and Burrows for Eric Staal?
Then....trade Edler+ to Winterpeg for Kane?
This is soooo much fun |

I was hoping the Canucks would reacquire Umberger to make it a bit more interesting while going for the lotto picks. |

This year's draft is supposed to be weak. No thanks, rather do it next year if that's the plan.

I think Umberger has been Clb's captain for a few games. I think they have been rotating the C. |

Some OHL prospect news for those interested (which should be a lot, since apparently the Canucks are rebuilding and these guys will be the core in a year or two...):
Miles Liberati was traded from London to Brampton. This is pretty good news considering London was so deep at D and Liberati wasn't getting the ice time he needed.
Gaunce was apparently traded to Eerie today, but used his NTC to nix the trade because he wanted some guarantees from Eerie they weren't willing to give at the time (no idea what that means).
Apparently both parties are trying to work things out and try the deal again.
Eerie is putting up insane offensive numbers, and Gaunce will likely play on the 2nd line with Burakovsky (WSH prospect), and get 2nd unit PP time.
Evan McEneny was also traded to Kingston, who is a much stronger team than Kitchener this season, so he'll likely end up getting some playoff experience. |

I saw a CHL ranking earlier today that had Eerie as 2nd overall. I`m guessing Guance was looking for playing time assurances in the top 6. |
