And it's as wrong as calling Indians (people in India) Native Americans. |

I actually have that card. I was at a card show when I was a kid with my dad, a friend of mine, and my dad's friend. We all just stood there drooling and each bought a copy. The clarity of that picture sucks, but let me tell you...those thighs, god damn. |

Check NHL.com for the story. It was featured last night. - Schenn2shine
Cool story.
I still like Richards and was happy when he got to lift the Cup. I'm sure a lot of fans are in the same boat with me.
I don't like Carter. I'm sure a lot of fans are in the same boat with me. |

I'm not getting political with you. I just never understood why we use the word Indians to refer to people who have never stepped foot in India - PhillySportsGuy
I believe because Columbus thought he landed in India instead of the new world |

I never didn't like Carter. I was kind of indifferent.
I almost had a heart attack when Gagne almost dropped it though. Has that ever happened? |

I know, right? We all know that Lief Erikson invented the new world. - jmatchett383
Iberian Muslims could have been there as early as 700. Chinese definitely beat Columbus as well. |

Bingo Bango Bongo. Well done. It's a misnomer. Just like refried beans. No offense was intended at the time. Should've been corrected. |

That would be my ultimate fear as a player. Dropping the championship trophy. I know it's happened in a lot of sports, but it would be tremendously embarrassing. |

Yes, but unlike the people on this board each day, they didn't scream "first!" nor did they make much of it. |

Do we have proof that they actually all came from North America? There's no chance they're actually Asian/European/African and migrated via a land bridge? Because if that's the case, then they're not Native Americans any more than I am. |

I am not an expert in this area by any means, but I believe most tribes prefer first to be referred to by their tribal heritage (Cherokee, Cree, etc) or, generically in Canada as First Nation and many dislike the term "Native American" more than the term Indian. I could be mistaken, though, and I apologize if I am incorrect. - bmeltzer
The first part is absolutely correct. I also know there was a huge push in Canada to push the term Eskimo to the side in deference to Inuit. Native American is viewed more in a sweeping term like Hispanic or Asian but there's been a push back on that in the last decade.
Not that I'm an expert either. My Great Grand Mother was Blackfoot and My Great Great Grandmother was Chiricahua of the Apache Nation. I only know anything at all by reading about it. |

it's like dropping the torah. not a good thing.
gagne almost dropped the cup when it was passed to him after they won in 2012. i've never seen anyone even remotely come close to doing that. |

Another guy for LA almost did because some douche bag camera guy was standing right next to him and he basically almost ran the guy over. Which, as a player, would piss me off. Those camera guys need to give them more space. |

Holding the Torah is terrifying. If dropped, you need to fast for 40 days.
Although, you can always find 40 people to fast for 1 day instead. |
