my 2.5 month old baby knows more about hockey than you, how does this make you feel? - big_dion
hold on a sec.
everyone one of those players mentioned is valuable and is very appealing.
id say gardiner the least of them, but he's still got value.
but you do now how hugely valuable a first overall is right?
the chance to draft a stamkos, Tavares, even hall.
and straight up, none of those pieces are worth a first. even kessel. and when the dude mentioned kessels contract in relation to the elc you get with said pick, that also made sense.
a package including 2 of them is certainly worth enough. and in some cases a fair bit more. (eg; reilly and kessel)
but none straight up one for one |

That's why you both cheer for basement teams. Because if you don't think Kessel, who was traded for two first rounders (we won that trade, despite the high draft picks) and is also notably better than he was at the time of the trade - is worth a single top ten pick... You are trippin blazebong. |

who says its going to be a first overall, its a lottery.
if you dont think kessel is worth a top 5 pick, you should never watch another NHL game in your lifetime. |

On the other hand, the players that were listed are all top 1st round selections, proven at the NHL level and the Flames are not guaranteed a top 3 pick...could be 5-6-7...who knows. |

Love how everyone blast Eck for giving u guys the rumors he hears. He usually hears these rumors really early and puts them out there, the idiots like you bash him then down the road it happens. Never seen anyone post after Bryz did sign with Edmonton, wow you were right on this Eck, the oilers did have interest. But when he first reported it all the Edmonton fans were saying, get real Eck that will never happen. - BernieKorch
first bold.... hahahahahahahaha, you must be new here... that is all.
second bold..... gtfo everyone and their dog was saying that Bryz would/should sign in Edmonton... Are you (frank)ing kidding me? |

UGHHHHH... Again... weak Draft year. NO ONE in the draft this year will be as good as Kessel, JVR, Rielly, even Kadri. Ekblad had potential to be, but IMO, the #1-2 picks this year are about in the same category as the #10-11 picks in previous years.
Calgary would be stupid to not take a trade for one of these above guys... And Toronto would be stupid to offer it. Non-issue. Not going to happen.

Not saying the first overall (this year) isn't worth some players on the leafs roster. But getting these players will go against our rebuild and could hurt us in the long run if we try to take short cuts now.
Plus why would Toronto give these players up now, they finally have a playoff team.
Ignoring this, Calgary already has similar defensemen to Gardiner in Russel, and Brodie what Calgary needs is young defensemen that...well play defense, and play it well. But we can't sacrifice our prospects (we finally have a decent stock of them) or picks that will be ready when this team is ready to contend. |
