Cap space ?? - Redmile247
yeah....... no
You guys won't trade monohan for gardiner where offense is what you guys need and a goalie. Defense you are "okay" on.
And there is no point in trading your first when it will be a very good pick |

buddy said none of those guys are worth a first overall. including kessel.
none of them are worth reinhart either. (prob a #2)
you get too much value, promise and elc out of a top 2.
and kessel and reilly are the only ones close atm. not kadri, nor jvr, nor even close to gardiner.
he also said that a package of two of the aforementioned leafs are worth MORE than the pick.
I see no problem in any of those statements. if you do, maybe you should heed your own advice, or try watching something other than just your leafs.
you've decided what the parameters of the debate were afterwards ( a lottery pick. he just said first overall. some other bozo with poor reading comprehension thought he meant a first rounder..??) and thus decided to call him stupid..
are you sure soccer isn't your sport?? - leaffanshaha
This never started as a 1st overall topic...it was Calgary's first pick next year which is completley uknown. Buddy going on about 1st overall was probably confusing considering no one was talking about the 1st overall pick.
I don't know about you but I certainly wouldn't trade Kessel, Kadri, JVR or Reilly for Calgary's uknown 1st pick in a pretty weak draft year. |

there's a pretty good probability its gonna be very high.
but regardless, what's confusing about it? he said first overall.
debate that if you will. but don't change his parameters and then call him stupid.
but even a lottery; kadri no.
gardiner absolutely not.
jvr maybe considering his first 20 games, ima fan but id assume most gms would wanna wait.
kessel yes. but depending on how much the team values saving 5 mil a year for the first 3-5 years.
reilly. almost assuredly a done deal.
I read through those pages of word vomit and had to laugh at that big dion guy. wow. what a douche |

Pretty much this.
It's all about perspective when gaging someones value.
Kessel is probably closer to being a UFA then Calgary is to being competative so no point in paying 8mill salary to an elite player that will hinder your rebuild over taking a top 10 first round pick.
Just like it would make no sense for the Leafs to trade Kessel at this point for an uknown 1st round pick....
Value is different for each team depending on where they lie in the pecking order. |

For Calgary, I agree with you - doesn't make sense to part with that first pick at this point for a JVR or Kadri. Just like for Toronto, it would be stupid to trade either for Calgary's pick.....

Right, but it transformed into the first overall pick and how Kessel, Reilly, etc are not worth that pick..... |

In a several million time simulation, this site has the Calgary Flames most likely to finish the season around 27-26-7.
http://www.sportsclubstat...tern/Pacific/Calgary.html
The position it suggests such a record would get them is most likely no higher than 22nd.
So mathematically speaking, there's a strong suggestion that it would be a top 10 pick at the absolute highest. It suggest there's a 57% chance they'd finish 26th or 25th. |

Just look at your name, you can't be surprised that Leaf fans would drill anything you say as well. And, there are a lot of bonehead Calgary fans, just like Edmonton fans (iggy is maybe the worst), just like nucklehead fans, just like Leaf fans.... |
