You obviously haven't been watching Cowen's play this season.

Don't know - Jared's having an off year, but I would hate to give up on him. That said, maybe the organization is souring? I hope not...

I asked it thoroughly expecting it to be rejected out of hand. I love Cowan and would love to see him play with Erik Johnson. Losing P.A. would be rough though.

The teams mentioned that want him don't have much that would make the leafs better right now. I just don't see how and why we would move him. The only thing we can take with the cap as it stands is picks and prospects. So what we get a real high first round pick in a not so good draft and a A level prospect that cant help us for a few years if ever....I just don't get it.

The teams mentioned that want him don't have much that would make the leafs better right now. I just don't see how and why we would move him. Any deal with Ottawa would require the financials to balance out or help Melnyk get even closer to the cap floor. I'm going to assume PA makes more than Cowen....

I 100% agree that they may be looking at it that way but this team is not very good right now they play like a ahl team vs nhl they cant get out of the zone. The only trade we should make is to help that. Because if we trade our players we can live without for prospects, then you have nothing left to trade to get help now.
