This is why when eklund posts stuff there is arguably no truth to it as it does not make any sense. But when reputable sources mention gardiner for the likes of B. Schenn, then that makes a little more sense as they are looking for a pucking moving defender and they have giroux, couterier and lecav as their top 3 centers. I would not trade E.Johnson for gardiner as E.Johnson is a guy you need to have as a shut down guy, you need those types and hes your only good one. O'Reilly is young and would cost alot. Only guy thats probably attainable is stastny. The calgary rumour is beyond stupid as they have no players we would be interested in nor will they give up monohan or their first rounder. Flyers are a better trading partner |

Gardiner is complete garbage in his own end. I honestly would never trade with Toronto, their players are like Yankees prospects in baseball, so freaking over hyped that it never works out for the other team. RoR for Gardiner? Do you guys have mental issues? You realize the Avs were offered (reportedly) Stepan, Del Zotto and a 1st last year for RoR when he was a holdout, and the Avs said no. Get a freaking clue Toronto fans.
RoR is one of the most undervalued players in the NHL (unless you are Jeff Marek). He'd be the 2nd best forward on Toronto instantly, and depending on how much you think Kessel is a dead brick in his own end, he'd be arguably the best forward on Toronto. The thing is, he's not going anywhere. Let me also be the first to argue that the Avs don't NEED to trade RoR or Stastny and should re-sign both. That RoR-Duchene-Parenteau line before Matty got hurt was the best in hockey this season, they were unstoppable. Mackinnon, as great as he is and will be, is not losing minutes right now having both on the team. He's only 18 freaking years old. Next year he will only be 19, then 20. The Avs can afford to keep the current roster construction at forward for a couple more seasons, in my opinion. I'd also actually add one more winger. 1 guy goes down (tanguay) and we went from a strong 3 line team to a predicable and easier to play against 2 line team in a hurry.
Also, not to even bring up the Avs goalie situation which is one of the best in the league right now, but Craig Anderson is never coming back to Colorado. Are you guys insane? Do you not remember how he left? Jared CowEn, on the other hand, would be freaking awesome. I think he's ripe for a change of scenery and I will admit I am exceptionally biased when it comes to Cowen. I watched him play at least 200 times in junior and he helped lead my junior team to the Mem Cup as a 16 yo. so I would love to see him in burgundy and blue. |

I actually really like O'Reilly, but ignoring the fact that he can play centre, I don't slot him in ahead of Kessel, Lupul, JVR, potentially even Kadri.
That line is a great line because of Duchene. RoR doesn't hurt the situation, but he doesn't carry that line either. Duchene does. |
