I wouldn't conclude that at all. Domestic assault is not necessarily a misdemeanor. He could, potentially, face jail time. Not a foregone conclusion (he may face other charges as well). Though likely, he will get a slap on the wrist.

you should. The case was given to the DA in late October to review and today after their review, are formally charging him with a misdemeanor 3rd degree count of assault

this is no longer up for debate...it is what it is, end of story.

He's Russian, anything is possible. And do you expect his teammates to come out and say they see him boozing it up all the time?

Not yet. I will. I almost feel sorry for them at this point though. That team is such a mess it's ridiculous. Trade their starting goalie for a draft pick, go somewhat off the board and take a guy that really isn't standing out in juniors this year. Absolutely no depth left whatsoever. Lock up their soft little sisters longterm for big dollars till age 38 is it? I knew they'd have trouble this year. The division they've played in has been phenomenally weak for a long time, giving them the idea their team is better than they really are. Something like, in the last 6 years, 3 of them they've been the only team in their division to make the playoffs, and 3 of them only one other team has. 30 plus games against that has a tendency to give you false optimism. Now they don't get that boost.

That team is so screwed. It's like the Leafs post-lockout. They should be rebuilding, but with all these huge contracts on over the hill declining players with NTCs, there is nothing they can do. And their prospect base, despite adding two decent, not spectacular ones, is still bottom of the barrel of the NHL. And the best part is, their current GM is even worse than the one we had dealing with the Leafs' mess.

I almost feel bad reminding them.
