Does this mean, since we finally lost in regulation, RosewhyamInotscratchedbudhill can be popcorn man? |

Nothing like a loss to get folks pissed off enough to female dog...but when they win, it's like atheists at the Rapture. Non-existent. - Jsaquella

it still seems kind of quiet
you know what was strange? last night was the first game in a while I actually got mad at the Flyers
the crappy start had me completely apathetic and fatalistic about them, then they go on a winning streak and I get emotional about a bad lose. weird |

Yeah, I was frustrated, too. they didn't seem to have much jump, got outworked for a good stretch, which hasn;t been happening a lot of late. |

I am thankful, in retrospect, that I did not get to see much of the game due to an inconsolable 5-month-old. Teething... 3 hours of sleep... |

Maybe losing will help them get out out their sloppy starts. |

They laid a turd. They thought they could win by working for one period. We'll see how they respond.

The best thing after a loss...you know there will be more posters than after a win. - Jsaquella
Yup.. the foul-weather fans and keyboard warriors come out in full force when there's a chance to gripe. Example: Braydon Coburn can have six straight good games -- and you don't hear a peep -- but as soon as he's part of a mix-up on a goal and the team loses, they resurface to say what a horrible player he is. |

And I'm gonna go head and say it...
I know the Flyers played a subpar game, at least by November's standards. And I know you can't place blame on some event in the game because you can't say for sure what would happen after that blah blah but (frank) it I'm goin for it.
The last 10 minutes, the Flyers were showing some of the good kind of desperation. Thomas was bailing the Kitties out time after time as the clock was ticking downwards in the single digits. I honestly thought they were gonna tie it....then what happened?
Gus goes to shovel the puck on a wide open ice to his wing for a breakout. No Panther was there. Hell they might have been changing. But the (frank)in referee lets a slow dribble hit him in the goddamn skates, and in the time that Gus has to stop on a dime and try to regain control of the puck, a Panther is given the opportunity to pressure, he grabs the loose puck, and then they score on a fluke goal. Now it's 3-1 with 5 minutes left and the game that looked like it still was winnable, i.e. if the Flyers force overtime, is now virtually unwinnable.
Thanks Stripes. (frank)ing asshat |

Look how "DUMB" Hartnell got overnight.
At least this season is back on track. 3 games under .500, Tampa and Winnipeg looming and than the punch in the face of the on coming 6 game road trip. Where's OB and his draft rankings? |

I seem to remember someone saying the Man, the Myth, the Legend whom I'm too young in hockeybuzz years to remember, Butsy, had us at .500 by Thanksgiving?

That's for sure. They did good to string some wins together. Let's all see how they hold up over the next 8 games. Should get interesting. |

Seems wrong to gripe after a win. Normally people get pretty upset if you say something negative after a win, so most save it for a loss.
That's why after a team loses we normally have 1000+ comment threads and after a win we have 75+ comment threads. Today being the exception for some reason... maybe the holidays. |

I seem to remember a game earlier where the Flyers were completely outplayed and were only able to score the game winner when their goalie pulled their groin.
We should be thanking our lucky stars we've split with Florida so far. |

Coburn, Simmonds, Grossmann all have been really good lately, Coburn pretty much all year.
I kind of shudder thinking what if EDM had offered more then a couple of 2nd rounders and he wasn't around this year. |

It is a bit hard to imagine why Florida has such a bad record. They look very good when they get goaltending. |

More likely that it's easy for a rather sour and shallow fanbase to pile on when the team is down and hard for said fanbase to accurately dissect hockey games when they're winning. It's been said multiple times by Bill that you can see a winning streak over before it is because sloppy play seeps in despite the results. The Flyers got away with sloppy play against Buffalo & the Islanders. They did not last night.
This fanbase can pat its collective back for being quick to female dog & taciturn to talk puck during a winning streak. |

Simmonds has looked like a completely different player. He went back to just making the simple plays...chipping pucks and chasing it himself instead of stickhandling.
Coburn and Timonen have both benefited from being reunited for obvious reasons.

Would love to see the L. Schenn from last year make an appearance. We are at the quarter pole of the season, his regression has been tough to watch.
He's still young (age wise) but this is his 5th full season in the NHL, he should be improving. |
