Damn, it was supposed to go up 6 mil - JAKEw1234
That's the one deal moving it 3, not the cap moving 3 total. That will depend on a lot of other things, too. |

Yeah with Mason proving that he could be the real deal, this team is a mere Drew Doughty away from a Stanley Cup. - Pixote Andolini
Well, it'd be nice to get a piece like that any time, whether Mason's the real deal or not.

That $3mm increase is before a single ticket, jersey, hat or beer is sold. |

I know that. That's a pretty big boost, on top of the 6 mil(ish) it should go up on top of that. I'd say "yay, more money to resign and sign players", but I suspect prices will probably just go up all around since everybody will get the bump. |

I guess the wording is cloudy, but I think he meant 3 million on this deal alone, so that would be nine million. We will spend all nine too. |

Which I guess does really make all of our pre-market resigns that much more special. Including Giroux's, which I was critical of.
Homer looks better for that, that's for sure. |

Yeah, the Flyers are going to be a cap ceiling team as long as Ed's alive |

Per MJL:
Just to let you know, this new TV deal will have zero impact on the Cap figure for the 14/15 Season. It doesn't start until then, and the Cap figure is based on HRR for the previous Season. So the Cap figure for next Season will be based on the revenue taken in from the current season.
Didn't think about that, but it's very true. I guess it's nice to know that there will be extra boosts to the cap on top of the regular boosts for the next couple years. It'll probably be more healthy for the player market that it's spread out, too. |

While I still believe in Giroux and his abilities, is it wrong for me to feel a Giroux hasn't been the best he could be since season 2011-12? In fact with the weight of the team that he's placed on his own shoulders, I don't feel like he's the same player he was during the 2010-11 season. |

He's been picking up his game, and I think he's been great recently. His stats seem to back that up. Over the past 2 weeks, he is the highest ranked fantasy skater in Yahoo fantasy, and the 2nd highest ranked player overall; Ben Scrivens being the only player more valuable than Giroux over the past 2 weeks. Over the past month (keeping in mind that the Flyers have not been a successful team for a full month, with the Washington debacle being not a full month ago), Giroux is the 11th highest ranked forward, and the 16th highest ranked overall. |

He's had inconsistent linemates ever since then. Voracek looks to be a 50-60 point guy and I don't think him and Giroux are the right type of players to be playing on the same line together. They both like to hold onto the puck while the play develops and go over their options. It seems like one takes away from the other. They've been playing together (for the most part), for over a year now and they still haven't found enough chemistry to put together top line numbers or top line play. I think Voracek would do better with Lecavalier rather than Giroux. Scott Hartnell's play has obviously been declining as well. He's turning into more of a 7th forward playing on the top line. Matt Read is a guy I'd love to see get some time on the top line to develop some chemistry with Giroux. Any way you look at it, Giroux needs another elite level player on his wing in order for him to consistently be the player we all know he can be. I'm not sure how they get one, because the market is so thin right now. They certainly have the assets to move to get somebody though. |

Rinaldo has the desire and probably the speed to play on the PK, but he still has a lot to learn about blocking the passing lanes and taking the proper angles on plays. Rinaldo has never been accused of being a cerebral hockey player, so I hope he learns fast? I like the fact that putting Rinaldo on the PK gives Giroux, Read and other top players a little rest so they can save their energy for scoring goals, but the minute Rinaldo starts hurting this team on the PK he should be removed. |
