The Captain thing was rushed in the first place. Management learned nothing from the Richards fiasco. It was just another great way to market the team and earn money.
I wouldnt go as far as saying he is the next Hemsky, but he seems worn down after a few years of playing against the other teams top defenders. I am all about secondary scoring, and do believe in Giroux, but he needs to be much better.
I do think that "C", and the pressure put on the kid was too much, too soon. At the same time, its basically always true that if you shutdown or smother Giroux your chances of winning go way up. Watch the PP in particular. Its rediculous how often they have Giroux run it, and the whole league knows this. - flyer_nutter

I think the thing with Giroux is the same as it was with Richards/Carter.
They are good players but not on the level of say Toews. One of the issues with the team, too many secondary pieces. From top to bottom.
Its only 2 goals (frank). 20 minutes left, they can easily take this game even in regulation. That puck-handling is just horrific though to watch. - flyer_nutter
It's only two goals but unlike flyer teams of the past I doubt this team has the guts to pull it off. |

no no no.. they cannot EASILY do anything. Overcoming this deficit will require hard work and smart hockey. Have you seen any hard work OR smart hockey tonight by anyone not wearing blue with a lightning bolt crest? |

What they need to me, is those primary pieces.
I think the so called core, is made up of too much "secondary". They need, for example a Matt Duschene, or another elite player.
The game breakers arent there, and at this point you have to hope Giroux returns to form. He hasnt been terrible, but if this is the Giroux the team will have for the next 5+ years, the need for more "elite" will simply go up.

scott hartnell really said that they maybe underestimated the panthers? really? when did they get into a position to underestimate other teams?
i guess that's the mentality of a team that over over last 2 years blows it all getting to .500, thinks that's good enough and they are hot poop now, and don't show up the next few games, then have to battle back to .500, rinse, repeat |

See I dont really believe they dont work hard. I think you are trying to turn a Catherine Zeta Jones into Megan Fox.
The overall elite level of talent is not there. Which would really be helped if Giroux/Voracek started playing to their ability. If they do not, and this kind of poop is the norm. The Flyers will need to re-evaluate.
Say what you will but the Flyers have a knack for overrating their "best" players, paying them accordingly and them being suprised when things dont go their way. Its the same thing that happened with Richards/Carter. If you give out those contracts, for guys to perform at a high level and produce, they need to. Or you are (frank)ed.
One of the reasons I have doubted Holmgren. |

Haha I have seen that name and it scares the poop out of me. Questions of dedication, attitude, already crying to the media.
Refuses to play both sides of the puck, and engage physically. Filatov 2.0

I totally disagree. This team is loaded with talent. Not all of it fits together, but there is no shortage of skill here.

Not to be an ass, but I disagree completely.
The Flyers talent core as assembled, features Giroux, Voracek, and Read. Throw in LeCavalier who is aging. Hartnell who is showing signs of slowing down big time. Along with Coots who shows very little in terms of offensive production, and bSchenn.
Compare that with the ELITE TALENT of other teams
Anaheim: Getzlaf, Perry
Boston: Obvious
Chicago: Obvious
Colorado: Obvious
Detriot: Obvious
Pittsburgh: Obvious
San Jose: Obvious
St. Louis: Obvious
What I am getting at here, is the Flyers fall in the middle of the pack or a little closer to the bottom for a reason. The overall talent level, that elite level. Is not on this team. Too many secondary pieces. They are where they are, and what they are for a reason. They need "star" power. |

When i think someone is trolling, I call them on it. I didn't think you were trolling at all. I just happen to dislike the chances of the Flyers flipping the switch and flipping the script, tonight. |
