Just because the cap is going to go up; isnt a good reason to make poor signings. - JFlyers00
But Mark Streit isn't a poor signing as of yet; at worst, he's been the No. 4 defenseman on this team this year, behind Coburn, Grossmann and Timonen, and Timonen's only started playing better in the last 8 games or so.
Streit's the third or fourth-best defenseman in the Flyers organization right now. Whose fault is that? Well, we all know the circumstances behind how we got to this point. But where would the defense be without him?
Do we really want to play Meszaros, Gill? One of the younger Phantoms? Bruno Gervais? Or trade one of the young forwards?
Yes, Mark Streit's making a good bit of money. But he's clearly better than the alternatives we have, and that's why he makes the money he does. |

I'm thinking it will go up at least 15 mil in the next two. The NHL has already established that coming out of a lockout their Cap is artificially low. Add to that the new TV contract which nets the teams 15 mil a season. Half of that goes to the players so there's 7.5 on top of the understated Cap and whatever the typical revenue increase is.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was 80 mil in 2015.

Dislike I totally agree with, but hate? I reserve that for penguins and other total scum. - twotoekenn
Not saying it's fair, just that certain Flyers players are firmly ensconced as villains in popular opinion. If Pronger were still playing, he'd be on that list, as well. |

It's going to be real interesting to see where the cap ceiling is set next season and especially the season after next. |

I think it will be more telling when teams are barely able to meet the cap floor. |

they really were hidious. I think Buffalo and the Isles corner the market in bad jersey and/or logo designs. Buffalo needs to go back to their original jerseys. classic. |

Whatever the increase might be, I am thinking we will see alot of trades or re-signings. Mes and Timmo are both coming off the books at 10m. Lots of changes to the blueline methinks.
Same goes for Downie and Schenn, both of who'm I am hoping to re-sign. Apart from Hartnell, who has been quite mediocre as of late, our top nine is starting to look good.
How do guys feel about going into next season cap wise? |

well ive learned on this site pretty quick that if you mention any good things about your team you better be ready to get poop on , that's all
I just didn't agree when he said we only have 1 good line, and I told him he is in for a surprise..
I could give you all a scouting report on our 4 lines and how solid they are but im just gonna get bashed and get called a homer - RileyB77
Funny, your fellow TB fan managed to give a scouting report on the four lines. He apparently actually knows something about his team, wants to talk hockey, and wasn't just visiting to troll. |

I think Streit has been fine, average on defense (as expected) and hes moving the puck up the ice rather well, moving the puck around on the PP (What hes getting paid to do) whats with the complaints? He is no worse than Carle was on defense. All I can remember about Carle is seeing #25 getting beat and staring at pucks in our net. |
