Tell me how the current model works. Ask the Islanders. You need a different blue print. All this team is doing is learning how to lose and it's making it even harder to attract top talent. Here's what you do to turn around your ship in one year which doesn't include moving to the eastern conference which sucks donkey balls.
Hall - the only untouchable. He's Messier Jr. 2.0
Gagner - stays. He's Doug Weight 2.0.
Perron - stays. He's Ryan Smith 2.0
Petry - stays. He's Charlie Huddy 2.0
Ference - stays. He's Jason Smith 2.0
Hemsky goes at the deadline for a prospect and a pick
RNH goes for a top 6 forward and a top 4 d-man
Yakupov goes for a top 6 forward and a prospect/pick
Eberle goes for a top 6 forward and a top 4 d-man
Hemsky to Boston for Caron and a 2nd
RNH to Toronto for Kadri and Gardiner
Yakupov to Philly for Couturier, Laughton and a 2nd
Eberle to St. Louis for Berglund and Shattenkirk
There are enough UFA goalies next year to get one or trade this years 1st for a goalie. You cannot tell me under any circumstances that this type of rebuild doesn't make the Oilers a much better team and into the next 5 years.

This is the second thread he's posted this in folks. He means business. The timing of it is perfect as well seeing as the Oilers have won 4 of 5 and outscored their opponents 18-3 in those wins. |

It's a spurt and not a trend just yet. Everyone was on the Backman train as well after his first game. Dubi played well then got shelled.
My point is that this team has a plethora of talent but just like all-star games, canada cups, olympics, etc., putting top players together doesn't equal success. The Oil do not have the right mix. It's not even close. BUT, and this is a very big but like buff's, the fact you have the assets to turn this around within a year and don't do it is fricken crazy. Einstein's definitiion of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He would call the Oilers crazy. I have to agree with my predecessor. |

Don't see these moves as necessary though. It's certainly a way to go, but there are simpler options that would also improve our team. |

Spurt...or trending upwards? Believe it or not many of the numbers are actually better than last year. Regardless, the moves you suggested are highly unlikely and the definition of 'knee jerk reaction' and would more than likely guarantee them a spot in the lottery, however good you think they are. Why? Because it would essentially be trading for a new team mid-season. |

only two teams get to the finals. celebrating division championships, art ross' and other trophies, president's trophies and a finals appearance is a pretty good measure of success. throw in a riot and we've done pretty well out here.
fans still fondly remember the oilers, flames and sens finals appearance. why can't canuck fans do the same? people hate the canucks because of cbc. every team has players who do stupid shiit. i used to hate teh oilers and flames when they were good. now i root for them. maybe after the canucks miss the playoffs for a decade you'll change your mind. i'm canadian and want all canadian teams to do well unless it's the leafs

We usually disagree. How many more 1st rounders do you want? Unless you stink it up this year and next and end up getting mcdavid nothing will change. you do not have a crosby. you have to trade someone. what part of that do oiler fans not get? i'm confused. |

No. Everyone hates the canucks because
1. Their fans are a bunch of stinky Vagina's
2. The team is a bunch of whiny diving douchecanoes
3. Their management is inept
4. BC is full of Asians....jk.... |

Even the original, turn of the century, rowing letter-man Vancouver logo sucks.
Grotesque.
Fukk I hate the 'nucks. Just watched the first episode of Oil Change, where Hall was run and nearly concussed and of course the feral Kassian clubbing on Gagner.
I seriously hope someone, anyone on our team runs one of your guys in the next match up. That will go a long way toward the right mix in my opinion. |
