The big line is terrific and that Nichushkin is going to be real special. He blew by the D two games ago for breakaways and he controls the boards like no other 18 year old I have seen. The Stars work hard all the way through the four lines and Lehtonen can steal any game when he is on and usually is. Flyers must be prepared to grind it out for the full 60 to get the W in Dallas. - flyerdude17
You must have missed Lindros then. At 18 he played in the Canada Cup tournament. Mark Messier said after Team Canada's first practice that Lindros was the strongest player that he had ever seen.

Robidas broke his leg I believe, should make things a bit easier.
A d-man I always wanted on this team, but getting a little too grey in the pubes. - flyer_nutter
I am a Robidas fan too.
Hey what is up with the Jets?
The blogger on here thinks there is some kind of rift between Ladd and the coach, or the team and the coach.
He basically implied that the Jets were dogging it yesterday on purpose, to get the coach fired or something? Not sure but that is how I interpreted his blog. |

Not sure about the rumors, but the Jets have been a very inconsistent team all year. |

You are so right, my apologies. Still can not believe some teams passed on him. |

Noel is the first in line, as was Laviolette. Its also funny because Lava has been mentioned quite a bit as a possible replacement. I will never be a fan of that team, but will always have a soft spot for Peter.
Noel will probably be gone by years end, and maybe sooner definately. I have heard nothing out of the city that suggests a rift between players/coach though.
At the same time, the current group is basically the same team out of Atlanta. Not much has changed, and it will take time as the draft is really all the Jets have for their options. Comparing them to the rest of the West, they are exactly where they should be imo.
That defense is arguably better than the Flyers. On offense though what do you expect? Its lead by Ladd, Kane and Wheeler who has always been inconsistent. After that you have Jokinen and Little, who is overrated simply because of how many minutes he is forced to play.
Scheiffele has been horrific. |

Just checking the standings, if the Flyers win, and the Rangers and Devils lose, then we're in a playoff spot! |

Having a bad day, you guys are right about Lindros. This kid is a Lindros clone. I am super impressed by him and that is the main point I am trying to make. I did see Lindros and I had the whole legion of doom on my fantasy team for many years. |

Trouba and Schiefele should be good ones.
I just wonder about E Kane. He could be really great, but not sure if it will happen with the Jets. |

Kane has to grow up and earn some respect from his mates. The guy just seems to be too into himself. Supreme talent and the best is yet to come if he matures. |

Scheifele has been pretty bad. Plays soft, and doesnt really excel anywhere. I think he has something like 4 points in his last 4 games, but from what I have seen out of the kid, doesnt really impress.
Kane, has a pretty similar reputation to that of Subban in terms of maturity. However his play usually makes people forget.
Kane, much like Giroux though doesnt get much support. After Ladd, the offense is pretty weak. Wheeler has always been inconsistent, and Brian Little is overrated simply because he plays so many minutes as there is nobody better. Jokinen is a joke.
Edit: The one thing I will give the Jets is they have some good younger pieces for that back end. Enstrom, Bogo, Trouba, Morrissey. |

I was as well. I was so sure the Flyers would take him at 11 right up until Dallas grabbed him. Though Flight Plan seemed to suggest otherwise. But he definitely would have fit the team philosophy of "best player available." |

If thats what FA really is, Flyers should just stay away.
If the chance at a really prime piece comes across fine, but Phaneuf is far from that "piece" imo. Too inconsistent for that money, and will be hitting a decline near the end of that contract. |

Mostly every free agent is overpaid and the market is always high. When looking at money and cap hits around the league most players aren't worth their current deals. However that's just how it is though. |

Maybe Phaneuf would realize that the only teams that would be willing to overpay for him are the bottom feeder teams and he won't ever get a cup with one of them and take less money to go to a franchise that gives him a shot to win. However, that's never the case and Phaneuf doesn't seem like that type of person to me either. From what I'm hearing he wants to be a top paid defensemen. In my opinion, he's not even in the top ten. I hope the Flyers stay away from him if he wants a penny over 6 million a year. |

Byfuglien is an interesting one to me. I'd love to have him, but not at a high price. I brought him up yesterday and after watching him, I've backed off a bit. If Winnipeg is in a hurry to get rid of him then maybe the asking price won't be so high. |

That's cool, as the years go on and salaries escalate for average players the owners can enforce another lockout when the CBA expires. I can't wait until they expand to 32 teams and have to fill the rosters with high priced slop while creating even more parity and a worse product. Highly talented players will live in obscurity in who gives a poop markets....Yay NHL
Just. Wait. For. It.
Wow, sorry for that |

That's the truth. Nothing will stop the ridiculous salaries unless the owners are willing to not pay it. |

Well its either trade away the kids or hold on for Morin for a few years and hope he developed properly. Going into next year our top line is what, Coburn and Streit? That's not gonna fly.
Its nice they took Dmen with 6 of 7 picks last year but the complete lack of drafting highly ranked D men (ie in the first two rounds) over the last 6 or so years is really what will be driving the need to pay out the mouth when a Dman like Phaneuf hits the market. |

And if they dont pay, they can be accused of collusion and end up paying anyway. its a horrible cycle. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 11/30/13 @ Nashville - bmeltzer
I don't mean to completely underestimate the Nashville Predators because as proven by the Panthers earlier this week, anything can happen. The Flyers would have to completely shoot themselves into the foot the lose this one, as the Flyers often do. Tonight I want a blow out. Tonight I want Lecavalier to score and/or have Read pot two simply because I don't wanna go into December without a forward not being in double digits in goals. It's been a successful month, it's time to end it on a high note. |

Bottom line for me is if phaneuf makes the flyers a better team and gives them a better shot at winning the cup I don't care what they pay him. |
