1) Great game by the Habs
2) I think Phaneuf's goal should have counted
3) Amazing to think of potential Olympians on Habs: Subban, Price, Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Pleks, Eller, Markov, Emelin, Diaz, Budaj.

They will.

Shorter term, less money than Emelin.

He's an asset and they won't let him walk for nothing.

He's getting a lot of hate considering how well he's been playing since the beginning of the season.

Diaz has been better than Gorges so far.

We liked Gorges when he was made of rubber and always went in the corners to retrieve the puck, where he received hits that would put Pacioretty on the sidelines for two months weeks.

Now he's as soft as Diaz, minus the puck moving ability, with 5 more blocked shots.

I don't think it's worth creating a hole on defense.

He's not my favorite player, far from it, but as long as Tinordi or Beaulieu can't take regular minutes in the NHL, can't afford to lose Diaz.

I meant he can be traded even with a contract.

Gorges has been playing subpar since last year.

I hope he turns it around because he used to be quite effective.

I think he's one of those guys who can be effective when the habs play a trap system but if they play more of a forechecking system as they've been doing the past couple of weeks, he gets exposed since he's a bit slow and the play comes at him faster

Yeah. The point EE made for Eller's contract could also work for Diaz'. The way he's playing, Bergevin can hardly give him less money than Gorges.

Yeah, he has played like the good 4-5 D he is. Like Danforth said, he thrived under Jacques Martin, but now he's less effective in a more puck moving/forechecking-focused system.

But on the depth chart, Diaz is a bottom pairing dman.

Can't give him $4M per.

Gorges' contract gives leverage to everyone.

Subban will get 16M/season using this argument.

I'd be surprised if anyone gave him such a contract.

Considering he makes 1,225M per year right now, giving him 2.75-3M per year for 2-3 years would be excellent.

The NHL is well represented with seven referees and six linesmen of the 28 total officials (14 referees and linesmen each). Among the referees are NHL veterans Dave Jackson, Mike Leggo, Brad Meier, Tim Peel, Kevin Pollock, Kelly Sutherland and Ian Walsh. Sweden's Marcus Vinnerborg, a one-time NHL referee, will appear in his second Olympic tournament.

The linesmen will include NHL officials Derek Amel, Lonnie Cameron, Greg Devorski, Brad Kovachik, Andy McElman and Jesse Wilmot.

Yup.

Emelin was making $2M and he got $4.25M.
