both good players, but i dont know if this helps the flyers with what they should be looking to do.

I have faith Holmgren will do the opposite.

I'm not ready to give up on this group yet. That string of games where the Flyers collected points through November is still pretty fresh. Tomorrow should be an interesting game. Detroit has won four in a row but are now without Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Hopefully Vinny is ready to go tomorrow and hopefully the Flyers can give it their all.

At the same time, if I had to trade anyone right now Voracek, Streit and Meszaros would be at the top of my list. I'm not really impressed by Michael Ruffl either. I'm still wondering how Laughton fits into the Flyers plans with Giroux, Lecavalier and Couturier centering the top nine. I would even consider re-signing Hall with how well he's played defensively and at the dot. Adam Hall has been a pleasant surprise.

its crazy what a turn around from last year. id have placed him at number 2 on the no touch list for you guys. his contract was looking to be one of the best values in the league

I think a lot of fans had Voracek pegged as the second best player on the team, even with the signing of Lecavalier. The season is still young but I've always felt like Lecavalier was the better player. Heck, Lecavalier has surpassed my expectations. If he could stay healthy, I think he could prove to be better than Giroux point wise this season, even with the lack of ice time. Lecavalier just seems more focused and more mature than Giroux right now.

he likely is at the moment. lecavalier is a stud. has been for a while. but thats just it. only my opinion, but if he is the best player on this team, youre going in the wrong direction. this team needs its two young stars in giroux and voracek to live up to their potential. vinny should be the perfect consistent and reliable second like center and powerplay helper, able to chip in with 30 to 35 goals and 70 points. i have no doubts that if healthy, he can do just that. but his time to be counted on as a franchise cornerstone should be going on the downward side of the hill.

We have an excellent 3rd line, a great goalie, an excellent backup goalie and good stay at home D-men. That top line was awesome on the PP last year. Need to get that mojo back.

as much as i like read, i wouldnt hold him that high. but i can see the resemblance in just the type of player. not incredible at anything, but pretty good at everything. heart, hustle, and speed.

I don't think any player lives up to the comparison. I just feel Read has a pretty balanced game that reminds me of Parise.

I think Matt Read can be a top line player on this team soon. It might not be that far away either, with Voracek struggling.

We probably won't get an update on Lecavalier until after the morning skate but I really wanna know if he's in or out right now!

But one-third of the way into the season, here are the scoring paces of those forwards, with their career highs in parentheses:

Downie: three goals (22).

Voracek: nine goals (22, but prorated to 38 because of the lockout-shortened season).

Giroux: 12 goals (28).

Hartnell: 15 goals (37).

Simmonds: 15 goals (28).

Ugh.

So no offense from the second line and a good chance of dumb penalties from the 4th line.

I was thinking more along the lines of Couturier, Simmonds and a 1st for both of them.

Cooter isnt going anywhere. At least I hope not. He's starting to emerge this year. Personally, I think its likely he will be the best forward on this team in 3 or so years.

Sidney Crosby has as many points as the Flyers top line COMBINED. I think that might be part of the Flyers issues.
