Yup lack of speed, especially on D, is by far the Flyers biggest weakness. Replacing Kimmo and Mez with 2 guys with good wheels next season is a must. Now they just have to figure out who those guys are and how can they be acquired. - BiggE

Me either but they signed off on it and that's where it's headed. - mayorofangrytown
You will see a lot more "Phoenix" situations if that's the case imo.
I have real doubts how teams like Columbus, Florida, New Jersey, and Winnipeg will be able to keep up with that long term.
Id be tempted to throw Calgary, Edmonton, Nashville and Ottawa who has a cheap owner into that mix also.
Will be a return of the "have" teams having a bigger advantage over the "have not" teams. Not a sustainable model imo. Especially when you want more parity in the league. |

I really want a guy who isn't horrific in his own end, good enough to be a top 4 that can actually transition the puck with it on his stick.
It would really help the overall balance of the team because a d-man can make all the quick passes he wants... If its going to the majority of the forward crew as constructed they wont be able to do poop with it anyway.
How many times do you watch NHL teams, and they have d-men who skate the puck up the ice, or are threats to hit the net. Not even saying score a goal. The Flyers don't have 1 d-man on the back end that can do that. - flyer_nutter
When they started winning, they were putting together sequences of short, quick passes that got them up the ice and through the neutral zone with very little risk and genuine consistency... toward the end of the streak, the passes started getting longer and longer, there was more stuff going E-W, and it wasn't surprising that they started struggling to get anything done. |

Wow. I never thought I would live to see the day someone at capitalism in the USA. This is a sad state of events... Or I should say a sad socialist Marxist state of events.
Edit... This literally makes me sick to my stomach. |

Thankfully the boring hockey I have watched this season has not only made me somewhat apathetic to the team (Crims loves when I make this reference haha).
Also apathetic to HB somewhat. No worries. |

I feel ya. I don't get as nervous and excited for Flyers games as I used to. They are a very boring team to watch because of their impotent offense. |

Doesn't it seem to be, and honestly this could just be because of the Flyers lack of success, but that the league is getting kind of boring itself?

If the team continues to stay around or below .500 I see a change happening sooner rather than later. 2 years out of the playoffs is something this franchise will not sit around idly and watch happen. |

I wonder if there is a way to facilitate a three team trade for Del Zotto. I just cant imagine the Flyers and Rangers doing a deal straight up. |

Yup, it's likely you'll have to pick which one you want, those that have all of those are hard to find & expensive to trade for & keep. - ob18
Well, last I checked, we have a big stable of young centermen with oodles of promise that could be used to acquire one. |

Havent backread everything today but just took a look at league wide stats. The Flyers are currently tied with Carolina for 2nd to last in the league in goals per game. Buffalo is the only team ranked lower. And that team is essentially all in to tank.

Zetterberg out two weeks with herniated disc per Ek.
Even though it helps the Flyers, I'd almost rather he was playing.

So keep the panthers and their 10 fans leeching off big revenue teams and using the money we give them to exist on players we may want to sign?

This is why if we're gonna miss the playoffs again I want us to miss in grand fashion. "Sign sealed delivered we're out of it" at the deadline bad. Get something, anything for Kimmo. Let teams kick the tires on Downie(I'd prefer to keep him tho) and hope the bidding goes high. |

To go down this rabbit hole, capitalism barely exists in the United States because there is no "free market". And if you think the market is free, you must not have ever heard of Wall St.
Edit: Further, who builds most of the stadiums all the sports teams play in?
Taxpayers. |

And true Capitalism always leads to one place: Monopolies. Also a failure, at least for the vast majority of people on the planet.
And the NFL seems to be doing ok.

They are definitely not a dynamic team. It's good to watch Couts develop, but most everybody else is flat-line boring or a flat-out disappointment at this point in the season.
A spark seems to be missing from this team. The question is why? |

Well said. This country once passed laws to stop/negate monopolies. I guess we forgot about that. Just ask the middle class, oh wait, that's gone too. |
