If the cap goes up to 100 million, Hartnell's contract will be in line with his current level of production. |

You could argue that the defense only allows low percentage shots at a high volume, but I agree Mason has been stellar. I'm just saying the defense isn't that bad "per man" then people think. As a unit they are slow and cant move the puck for poop, but they aren't bad players, and actaully play a decent defensive game... until they cant get the puck out which will eventually lead to a slow defenseman getting out of position... - youarewrong
This is why I wish the NHL kept track of scoring chances, even if there's some subjectivity to how it's tallied.
As a team, I don't think they're 'stingy' defensively... not the way teams like Boston, LA and NJ are. They've just been getting other-worldly goaltending, which has covered up a lot of warts. |

9th in goals-against per... 6th in team SV%......... 19th in shots-against per... Mason (and Emery) save their collective bacon time and time again. If the goaltending experiences any kind of dip, this team is in real deep poop. - Tomahawk
...and they aren't that good now. |

100% agree. Get him out there at the right circle, and teams will have to think twice about pressuring G too closely. Voracek just isn't a credible scoring threat from distance, right now.
I'd love to see Baby Schenn work the right circle on the second unit... he used to pump one-timers in from there in junior... I think they're wasting his skill by parking him in front of the net. - Tomahawk
I don't know if anyone remembers but both Brayden Schenn's goals during the Penguins game were from the area Hartnell is suppose to score on the Power Play. Very decent shot from B.Schenn. While I don't like Lecavalier anywhere near the blue line, other teams would have to respect his shot. I am also a believe that Lecavalier can play the right half wall somewhat Jagr like.
I think I would simply replace Hartnell with B.Schenn, who's also not afraid to stand in shooting lanes for tips and I feel has more of a respectable shot than Hartnell right now. I would also replace Voracek with Lecavalier. To add to my point, I would also start having Lecavalier take the faceoffs for the PP to get Timonen and Giroux high for the quick set up. |

Sweet jesus, what is going on? I'll be at tonight's game in Detroit, Lecavalier will have missed both games in Motown this season! I'll also be in Columbus and already no Bob, plus it's possible no Nathan Horton or Marian Gaborik! I also decided to go to this game because they finally look like a half decent team now! |

Apparently you're the harbinger of hockey injuries.
Please, go online right now and buy a bunch of tix to Penguins games. |

Off topic but, for the record, from day 1, I wanted Quick instead of Simmonds/Schenn in the Richards deal. Have been a fan of his since he broke into the NHL. Just an FYI. |

He had just played a 61 game season as their starter with a .918 SV%. LA wasn't trading him. |

They also weren't taking offers on Braydon Schenn. He was untouchable.
If they really wanted Richards bad enough, they'd still have their highly-touted Bernier waiting to go. |

It's not impossible that they would have. He was coming off a second disappointing playoff run, and they had Bernier waiting in the wings. I remember several Kings fans calling him Mr Softee. |

How funny is it that they dealt Bernier for Scrivens, only to have Scrivens come in and steal Quick's net from him? lol. |

When are we trading players that are underproducing (and therefore at lowest value) for the most overpaid defenseman in the NHL again? |
