The Rangers have some cap problems with the new hank deal. Even with the now pretty much assured buy out of B.Richard they still have some problems ie finding deals for Del Zotto (if not traded), Brassard, Moore, Krieder, Zucarello, Stralman, Pyatt, Puolit, Boyle, Girardi, and Callahan (who could end up with at least a million dollar increase in salary unless he takes a home town discount). If a lot of those players want a raise they are in for some trouble.

Despite this I believe that overall the rags will be able to field relatively the same team but they wont be able to add many assets to make them a true contender. They cannot add the scoring they need due to cap restraints. In addition, If some players ask for big raises then some could fall through the cracks. I doubt that they would let Girardi go for nothing but who knows. I am sure the Flyers would go after him, but would probably overpay him
