i mean, the targets they typically wear are pretty high regardless. do you think now the rest of the league is going to be gunning for the entirety of the bruins heads? or the flyers for rinaldo's? when i say it is what it is, in no way am i referring to the acts of both players because theyre sickening, but as far as future play and repercussions for other players on the teams involved, it kind of is what it is at this point - stayinthefnnet
i'd say it would be silly if the league was gunning for the bruins heads... all thornton did was make the penguins responsible for a dirt bag play |

sure he could have pulled a tony romo and sucked it up and choked but he didn't he came through when they needed him - 2Real
mkay. im neither a fan nor detractor of romo's. love the guys taste in women but i could care less either way about him as a player. but just to use your viewpoint here in the name of fairness. okay, so romo sucks. check. kaep didnt pull a romo. check. therefore, all you have proved is that kaep didnt suck.
im not debating that point. we are already in agreement that he didnt cost his team the game. however, if you cant see the difference between not costing your team the game, and saying that he won his team the game, then like i said i guess i will just chalk it up to difference in evaluation and perspective |

kapernick's job is to set the team up to score points... did he not do it better than the sea hawks? |

And Laughton ties Connor McDavid in points with 2 games in hand, get this man a Flyers jersey already - JAKEw1234
I can't wait to see him in the league. I hope they sign Downie so they have pieces to deal. |

okay. so, lets review some tape of this season and find all "dirt bag" plays that were not met with a cave man assault from the opposition.
im honestly surprised we still have a league going with the amount of league wide head seeking witch hunts which should be going on....
like i said man, i just dont see it. everyone hates the pens. im not gonna debate if its justifiable or whatever. even if it is, why would they just suddenly start kicking in their stars heads? you cant have it both ways, and proclaim that they are overly protected by the league and then expect other teams to band together in some sort of mash crosby and malkins heads in vigilante episode and incur huge suspensions in the process. |

so if russell wilson doesnt throw a pick at the end, and gets his team in place for a field goal to win it, does that in any way change kaeps performance for better or for worse?
the team oriented outcome certainly changes, yes. but his statline and contributions sure dont. all of a sudden, it wasnt enough anymore.
like i said, im not trashing him here. he played a decent game against a tough team. but to imply in any way that he single handedly beat the seahawks defies any sort of rationality. |

true. i just am put off by those who say orpik in any way deserved what he got. he is a mauler type player, but not necessarily a dirty sort. i am just so over the goonery poop in hockey. if you are fighting someone, any use of your fists ends once you are off of your feet. - stayinthefnnet
The Orpik hit looked clean to me.
It was a dirty nasty game from both sides.
The issue the NHL faces is, that is has to decide who is going to police the game. If you want to have an instigator and limit fighting and get rid of the enforcer types, you need to crack down hard and the kind of bullpoop pulled by Thornton, Neal and Dupuis in that game. You need to slam Rinaldo harder than a porn star in a bondage flick.
You can't have different rules for 30 goal scorers and grinders. |

sign me up for that reality. if neal keeps this up and it costs him half a season in the pressbox to figure it out, then oh well. players can change if they try. whether people choose to believe it or not, cookie certainly has. get serious about it. a player does not learn from a one game sit down. and they must punish the act, and not the result. |

That's the other issue I have. They weigh resulting injuries way too much. Take the hit on Boychuk by Pacioretty. That wasn't a malice hit, it was an overaggressive hit that unfortunately resulted in injury.
But Neal & Thornton, there's not a Helluva lot of doubt that their intent was to injure or at the very least cause a great deal of misery outside the rules. |

exactly. and whether orpik is playing in the next game, or on machine assisted living, the punishment should not be altered in any way in my mind. you should not be able to benefit from the happenstance that your victim does not get injured.

Pens are a scum team. From a scum city. Crosby and his crazy uppercuts to a prone players junk breaks guy code and hockey code. His slashes are legendary and he gets away with it all. Pens fans have 0 room to complain about anything IMO. You were given #1 picks year after year.

Neals was far worse IMO. The ONLY intent to knee someone in the face is to hurt them. Thornton could have done far more damage if his intent was to injure.

okay. a knee to the face shows intent to hurt. i got it. not disagreeing. but what thorton did shows what exactly? exchange knee for fist. does it just totally change the dynamic of everything? |
