Let him know the knucklehead role on this team has already been filled.

totally off topic, and not to get a firestorm going, but you guys wont hear the bschenn-neal comparison in dirtiness/recklessness anymore from me. not that i suddenly think schenn isnt a punk, but neal, for as much as i love him as a player, is going beyond being a comparable

Just watched the plays for the first time. I liked Neal before, now I think he's a poop head. Not trying to have a bias, as I think what Thornton did was also super poopty. Hope they both get suspended. Orpik could've probably chilled out with the first hit on Eriksson, but I don't think he really did anything wrong. The hit looked pretty clean to me, it was just Eriksson's positioning, with the puck being behind him istead of on him, that was the problem with it. Orpik didn't deserve what he got, though.

i realize i probably still have a little bit of bias as well. thorton behaved like an animal. that goes beyond hockey and the dude shouldnt even be given skates. however, im not going to defend what neal did either. even at its best case scenario, it is extremely, extremely reckless. its exactly like the steckel hit on crosby. even if youre going to try and sell lack of intent, that is not enough.

just because you didnt intentionally mean to hit someone with your car, doesnt mean you can just drive around like a lunatic. you still need to have accountability for your self. if he cant figure that out, he doesnt deserve to be out there either

the typical whole, oh i didnt see him, i was just skating type crap. although he lead in with a whole well what do you want me to say kind of thing. he definitely could have at least shown some semblance of remorse for sure.

i backread a lot on both boards to see how people felt, and obviously no surprise bias abounded on all sides. but still. people saying the dirtiest mother(frank)er in the league are laughable, but at the same time, hes certainly painting a dark picture about himself. like i said, even if you believe him that it was an accident, it doesnt change the fact that its grossly reckless.

he did? all by his lonesome? he is pretty super. he actually handed off to himself and played tailback and averaged over 6 a carry? then between possessions he trotted himself out there to stymie a seattle offense that had been steamrolling? damn youre right maybe i am too harsh on the guy

That knee to the head from him was disgusting. You know I've been preaching it for a while, but I think he's top 3 in the scum department.

That whole game was just not good. Turns out that a Bruin got his ankle slashed and broken too.

Yikes.

Well, Emery was the dirtiest mother(frank)er in the league when he beat up Holtby, and Scott was the dirtiest mother(frank)er in the league when he went after Kessel. People have relatively short memories when things like this happen so often.

its impossible to say otherwise than at the very least he is climbing in the ranks. and i just dont get it. he is insanely skilled. if the decision was mine, hed get a ten game sit down.

true. i just am put off by those who say orpik in any way deserved what he got. he is a mauler type player, but not necessarily a dirty sort. i am just so over the goonery poop in hockey. if you are fighting someone, any use of your fists ends once you are off of your feet.

I'll be the first to admit I have orange colored glasses on when I say he's a top 3 scumbag.

That being said, he certainly is climbing the ranks. And quickly, IMO.

He is insanely talented, indeed. It's so bizarre- you'd never think, looking at his stats, he goes off like this more often than most others.

EDIT: As for the Orpik incident- well....let's just say that MMA has no place in hockey. Thornton's actions are just as unjustifiable as Neal's.

Ya Rino throwing a punch at that Stars player when he was on the ground yesterday was so not ok. I hope he's doing suicides in practice and gets scratched for a game or two so the lesson can really sink in.

i feel you and i just view roles and levels of contributions differently. yes, his team did win the game. yes, he really didnt do anything to put it in jeopardy. in fact, he likely did have a pretty positive influence on the outcome. but i mean i wouldnt hold this up as some sort of crowning achievement on his part on a personal level. i believe it is largely a team game, but i admit there are times when one player does pretty much rise up and become tantamount to the victory. however, do you really see this as one of those times?

i mean, the targets they typically wear are pretty high regardless. do you think now the rest of the league is going to be gunning for the entirety of the bruins heads? or the flyers for rinaldo's? when i say it is what it is, in no way am i referring to the acts of both players because theyre sickening, but as far as future play and repercussions for other players on the teams involved, it kind of is what it is at this point
