Losing to a team like the Caps, a team that is soft, a team that in the past the Rangers have dictated to is unacceptable and is beyond a major concern. The season is almost half done, the GM needs to do something to change the identity of the team. AV can talk all he wants about skill and puck moving and all that, its not about the skill right now its about attitude. Where is the fight? I'm not talking about dropping the gloves, I mean playing hard, grinding in corners, winning battles? I'm not blaming the coaches, this is on the players now. If indeed it was the players that forced Torts out the door, then fine, you got your new coach, not put up, shut up or get out! Come on Slats, do something, a Sean Avery type trade, they need to really shake the tree here. The team is going to look much different next season anyways given rising cap, BR buyout and AV wanting his type of personnel in here.....something needs to be done before we lose another season.....Lets go! - Blueshirts4ever
We need grizzly vets with pride to get in here.
Id like to see Sather try to kick tires on Andrew Ladd. |

I would LOVE some news - jimbro83
This team needs something. A positive change, is not going to come from within, they need to start wheeling and dealing.
Upon reading quotes, from the players' closed door meeting last night, not getting a single quote from their captain made me sick.
All the quotes came from Richards, the assistant, where's the captain? Such a disappointment to realize this team's leadership group is apathetic and soft.
Sick of this core, blow this f*cking thing up already. |

They have too many players in here that are ok with collecting a paycheck after getting their @sses handed to them.
This team needs a lot more attitude and players that absolutely hate to lose. |

Oh, forgot to mention, I would really like them to target Vrbata if they want some added skill. |

Sather would need to seriously work his miracle magic to do this. Trading Pouliot, Brassard, Boyle, D Moore would not be easy. Trading them for any of the guys yo mentioned would be nearly impossible.
I like, but it is a dream to be had. |

I just need to see a drastically different lineup than the one they throw out there now.
It's weak, heartless and has a severe inability to put pucks into opposing nets. |

You also dont see Hagelin or Miller in that lineup, and I havent even gotten to the D. Where Id definitely want to move Del Zotto and possibly Girardi (I would only trade him if he continues to be lack luster after a series of remodeling trades). |

Basically the only players, that are worth keeping, are:
Lundqvist, Nash, Kreider, McDonagh, Richards, Callahan, Stralman and Talbot.
I know the rest won't all be moved but I wouldn't care if any of the current Rangers, not listed above, were no longer Rangers. |

on kicking motion: change the rule - off the skate either counts or it doesn't; remove the judgement ... treat it like a high stick, or puck over the glass penalties, make it a non discretionary automatic call.
on the Rangers: I've been as patient as possible, but this is a 9 game "make or break" homestand. To start it off as badly as this is depressing and extremely concerning. If they can't step up now, then something needs to change. |

I did, I had to think about it for a second.
His lack of leadership lately is really bothering me but overall he is still one of my favorite players. |

I think whats happening is the inmates are starting to get a bit more vocal, and Cally is getting drowned out. |

You think him seeing Lundqvist get his new deal is starting to gnaw at Callahan a bit?
Who knows, right? All I know is that he needs to step his game up, on and off the ice. He needs to be the player we all know he can be. |

As long as the value of the return is worth the trade, my list of keepers doesn't extend past Lundqvist, McD & Richards (only b/c of the cap recapture).
IMO everyone else is available for the right price |

Cally might not want to risk another injury until he signs a contract. A lack luster year won't affect his value much but a season ending/ extended period of time injury will. I'm still not convinced he's not hurt. |

I'd have to be really really really enticed by any offer that includes Kreider, better be a good one

Fair enough, I can't really argue that. This team is a mess and, I won't forget that, even if they reel off a modest winning streak here.
Poorly assembled, no other way to explain it. |

Not the time to hit the panic button yet. Team is play 500 hockey which is hovering around 8th place in the East. What the team needs right now is to infuse a little attitude change. They've endured a lot this year with system changes and a defensive core that has been very subpar and a starting goalie that has allowed questionable goals in many of the games he's played. Not going to put too much blame on Hank considering the number of Grade A opportunities the defense gives up on a routine basis, but Hank has not been the show stopping rock they're use to getting.
I'm not ready to give up on this group yet. 500 hockey is not gonna win you the cup, but if they can get it together a little bit, a 5 win swing over 500 puts you in like 5th or 6th place. A good win streak followed by some above 500 hockey puts you in 4th place. The line is very fine right now, don't overreact and blow up the team as if we were bottom feeders like Buffalo. We don't have a losing record where rebuilding the core is necessary. We need a little attitude adjustment and commitment to black and blue hockey. They know how to do it, they've done it before.
That said, I wouldn't be opposed to picking up some role players. As mentioned above, we could use 1 or 2 "annoying" players to play against. I would move Pouliot and Pyatt. They serve NOTHING to the lineup. You can get agitators in your line that contribute 1 or 2 points every 10 games and that is the same that your getting from those 2. We need a Shawn Thorton or a Jordin Tootoo. A few Todd Harvey's, lol. Maybe give Beach a shot with the club. |

Agreed, Kreider is looking like a prominent power forward in the making.
You can't teach the blend of skill, speed and physical ability that he has. |

Last night was a joke, they played hard for the first part of the period & what happened after that I have no idea. Skating around like zombies, no fire. Forget about the scoring for a second, this team is not big, gritty or physical enough. Pyatt, Boyle, Pouliot cannot be included in the size & grit dept. 3 tall ladies with skates on. Last night was crying for someone to go out there and change the game with a fight or big hit & nothing.
Even if he's not 100% ready bring Mcillrath up or bring Beach up, who cares if he's supposedly a little crazy. That's good, that's what they need. Teams have no fear of the Rangers. You saw it when Sestito hit DZ in the head and Giannone said the Rangers were chirpin at him and Sestito told the Ranger bench what are any of you gonna do about it. Derek Dorsett had to go fight him. Too soft. Even if they fix their scoring woes, & get to the playoffs, put them up against a Bruins, Kings, Hawks, Ducks, Sharks team & and physically they'll be worn down. I've been saying it for years and How Sather can't see it is mind boggling. |
