The greater issue is, you have to have players other teams want, and in order to change the face of the club you have to be willing to part with them. - OLDSCHOOL#6
I think the organization is going to have to ask themselves whether Brad Richards is going to be here beyond this year. If the answer to that question is yes, perhaps that opens up some options for them. Winnipeg is badly in need of a center, and Kane seems to be an issue there. If you want to pick up a guy like Evander Kane for instance, it is going to cost Derek Stepan, most likely, unless Slats can really pull one out of his *ss.
Every significant trade that they could possibly make is going to open up other holes. I guess they are just going to have to ask themselves which holes are more acceptable, which hole would be easier to fill via a subsequent transaction, et.
If Kane can be had in deal for Stepan, who would do it? Would you feel comfortable going with Richards, Brassard, Miller and Boyle down the middle?
This deal is just an example, but unless you want to be in the second tier market (Cammy, Fleishmann, et.), the Rangers are going to have to part with valuable assets and open up holes to change the look of the organization. |

Who are you willing to part with in order to obtain those 3? - OLDSCHOOL#6
we'd probably have to gut our roster for ladd and give up kreider for glencross. ott is the only realistic one and i'd give up a prospect and a 1st or 2nd for him at the deadline. |

i would do it, buyout richards, and throw thornton or stasny a big deal. go with thornton/stasny - brassard - miller - boyle as the center core. brassard would have like 8 more points right now if pouliot could bury some of the 10 breakaways brassard springs him on, and i don't think he's been given a fair shake at quality wingers.
edit: try to sign Ott to play 3rd line winger and move miller to wing.
Kreider - Stasny/Thornton - Nash
E. Kane - Brassard - Kristo/Callahan
Hagelin - Ott/Miller - Callahan/Miller
Dorsett - Boyle - Miller/Beach

That's my point exactly. Stepan may have some trade value, but if he continues to look like he's skating in mud he won't. To answer your question, would I do Stepan for Kane? Yes. I wonder if the Jets would. Also, another idea I've been thinking about, why not move Zuccs to center? Alright he probably won't win many faceoffs, but he's a playmaker, and could make his wingers better. |

Ladd would probably come at a price... so not sure there... Miller + Kristo + 1st?
Glencross. I think we can ship Hagelin with a prospect and/or mid pick for him.
Ott. Brassard would have to be part of the deal, plus one of our better prospects and possibly a pick. |

Ott is a UFA this summer. no way would we have to pay brassard, a better prospect, and a 1st imo. ladd would cost a hell of a lot more too. i'm thinking callahan or stepan as the starting point or an extended healthy staal. |

Well then, Ott for Brassard straight up.
How about an extended Girardi, Miller and a 1st for Ladd as a starting point? |

Whats funny is, Brassard through 30 games (reg season and playoffs) last year looked like a revelation. Now 30 games this year he's lost and you don't want him anywhere near this team?
Have some faith fans. Don't act like Mike Meyers in Mystery Alaska, saying in the first period the team is outclassed and absolutely getting run over, then saying they are awesome in the 2nd and he wants to adopt them, then saying their goose is cooked in the 3rd, LOL. Hank Azaria responds This is such Bullsh*t...
This team needs to galvanize behind something. Like Torts put them through the West Point Camp, they need to hit rock bottom in the trenches to learn to sacrifice for each other. |

not sure winnipeg would wanna move arguably their best forward for a defender when they have byfuglien, bogosian, enstrom, trouba, clitsome and kulikov. |

- My issue with Stastny is that he has Broadway bust written all over him, but I would be willing to take that chance.
- Hoping Sather can open up that GM black book and swing a trade for Ladd.
- Sign Ott (or trade Brassard for him)
- Trade Hagelin for Glencross
Kreider, Stastny, Nash
Ladd, Stepan, Zucc
Glencross, Ott, Callahan
Haley, Goc, Dorsett |

I really find it hilarious the list of players regular fans here are calling to trade:
Girardi
Stepan
Hagelin
Staal
Brassard
Any one of these players can turn it on are completely 180 their game at any point in the season. Not a single one of them has shown that can't. Maybe we should have traded Stepan after the first 15 games last year. Then we would have missed him score like 35 points in the following 30 games lol. |

Brassard, although can make a nice pass occasionally, makes equally as many - if not more - horrible passes that lead to turnovers and on occasion odd man rushes. He sucks defensively. Sure he can win a few faceoffs but so can Ott. Ott is pretty good defensively, hes a nuisance in front of the net and he can put away goals... oh, and will drop the gloves. |

I wanna keep Stepan and Hagelin. Both make a combined 5 million bucks. Staal is now untradeable. Girardi and Brassard can go where ever they please. |

Girardi, hes good, but I dont think we should commit a huge contract to him.
Hagelin, all he has is one thing, his speed, doesnt have a great shot, nothing special in the passing dept.
Brassard, I already posted my thoughts on him.
And Im going to add Del Zotto, Ill drive him wherever they trade him to, as long as he picks up a couple broads on the way. |

sure but we're not talking trading a guy like stepan for an average player like sutter from the penguins. we're talking a guy like evander kane, a superstar in the making. |

I actually like this move. Miller was completely ineffective. Kid needs to keep playing in the minors. Asham can put up just as many points as Miller, but adds a heck of a lot more grit and checking ability. Asham is pretty much the only guy left in our system that can fight. Dorsett and Haley are both hurt, we just got rid of Mashinter, and McIlrath is just not ready. I'm a fan of Asham, he's a good player. His puck movement and shooting is very underrated. He's also a pretty fast skater too. |
