Girardi, hes good, but I dont think we should commit a huge contract to him.
Hagelin, all he has is one thing, his speed, doesnt have a great shot, nothing special in the passing dept.
Brassard, I already posted my thoughts on him.

on hagelin and brassard, while they might not be special players in the sense that they're 1st line PPG players, we still need to ice 12 forwards. if you have a player like brassard and hagelin in the bottom 6, you are a deep team and they can pitch more than enough goals for what their role is. you get rid of hagelin and brassard but then you have pyatt and powe in their place.

I actually like this move. Miller was completely ineffective. Kid needs to keep playing in the minors. Asham can put up just as many points as Miller, but adds a heck of a lot more grit and checking ability. Asham is pretty much the only guy left in our system that can fight. Dorsett and Haley are both hurt, we just got rid of Mashinter, and McIlrath is just not ready. I'm a fan of Asham, he's a good player. His puck movement and shooting is very underrated. He's also a pretty fast skater too.

I thought Miller played well, he generated chances, I would have played him these two games coming up for sure

miller was more noticeable than guy like pyatt for example last game but he's still buried on the 3rd or 4th line playing 10 mins a game. i'd rather have asham do that and miller playing 1st line minutes in his natural position since asham can actually fight and maybe chip in a little offense too.

And Im going to add Del Zotto, Ill drive him wherever they trade him to, as long as he picks up a couple broads on the way.

Hagelin is by far the boardwork player we have. Cally and Boyle are good, but Hagelin is dominant along the end boards in the offensive zone. Problem is, he doesn't have any linemates that are Graveslike. Brassard and Pouliot are both perimeter players. I've been calling for Hagelin to move up and play with Callahan. Cally can get to the front of the net when Hags is along the endboards and I would bet that Hags would win the puck and get it to the crease for Cally.

Powe and Pyatt, like Messier and Gretzky. Who doesn't want to see more of them? I mean, Pyatt is only on pace for 4 assists in 72 games and Powe can't even grab a spot in the NHL.

exactly. yea hagelin and brassard aren't going to score 82 points a season, but they can put up 40+ on the 3rd line and in the top 6 when injuries strike.

the thing with brassard is that he's streaky. you can tell sometimes he gets really hot and has a bunch of points, but then if he doesn't produce for 1 game, he gets demoted with a bunch of crappy wingers until the rest of the team sucks and then he gets a chance with a guy like nash or kreider again for half a game before getting kicked off again. unless he clicks right away then he gets burn for a few games.

ok but Hartford doesn't play until friday, so Miller won't be doing much of anything while we have two actual games.

this team is starting to get to me

I've watched Hagelin shift back and forth on the endboards and slip a pass to the front with no one there or no one good enough to get a stick on it. He does it almost every game. Thats why he was so good with Nash and Stepan. Not saying move Kreider, I like those 3 together, but Hagelin was the dirty work player that was able to get the puck to Nash in front or Stepan in the circles. Hagelin also worked pretty well with Richards the year before. I remember the slick passes Hags would make off the end boards to Richards off to the side of the net. Brassard just isn't the right center for him, Brass can't work through traffic in front and thats who Hags needs to get the puck to, someone in the front of the crease or near it.

Hagelin not the problem. But keep thinking that. Problems. Bad change on Janssen goal, team collapses. TEAM collapses. Problem, Callahan. Double minor in OT, missed chances, specifically on 2 on 1 last night that ended up with no shot. Problem team defense. There you go.

Hagelin is not the problem, but when he came back from being injured, he gave the team a real shot in the arm, where has that guy been lately?

This I know. These are hypothetical thoughts.

This team needs grizzled vets, Glencross and Ott would be great to kick these young guys in the ass.

let's also not forget that there are over 50 games left in the season and we are tied for a playoff spot and have just lost 2 in a row for just the second time since mid october. this team will be fine imo in the longrun and i do think that this is just a little slump and the rangers will get on a hot streak eventually.

we haven't lost 10 in a row and out of playoff spot already and we've seen this team, this exact roster, completely dominate teams.

if the rangers raise their compete level and start winning the 1 on 1 battles on a night to night basis with this exact roster, they will start becoming a winning hockey team.

Sometimes its just about the mix. I was posting on these boards for AV to put Kreider Stepan and Nash together about 2 weeks ago. I said Kreider's size and speed and passing is what Nash needs. Someone to create space for Nash. My prayers were answered and they've dominated 80% of the games they've been together for. Gotta take each guys strength and make a complete line with them. Brassard and Zuccarello need to be together. I said over the summer, that these two should be speedy passing players that can skate and circle and find each other through seams. I would go with:

Kreider Step Nash
Hags Richie Cally
Zucc Brassard Moore
Pouliot/Pyatt Boyle Asham

I don't know if making trades with this year in mind and trading young assets is the greatest idea

Well then, I just dont want to hear people complain and whine that we are a .500 team, a fringe team, etc... the team the way it is, if it manages to luck itself into the playoffs are out in the first round.

If he played on the top line, he would play 20 minutes a night and I can guarantee you he wont break 50 points.

Brassard, although can make a nice pass occasionally, makes equally as many - if not more - horrible passes that lead to turnovers and on occasion odd man rushes. He sucks defensively. Sure he can win a few faceoffs but so can Ott. Ott is pretty good defensively, hes a nuisance in front of the net and he can put away goals... oh, and will drop the gloves.

Brassard blows.

All the names in bold make me want to vomit. Especially the P's and Moore. That's 3.5 million in wasted cap space.
