LMAO? So the guy scores at a ppg last year, this year he's struggling and you laugh your ass off because I think he'll have stretch where he'll do it again? I LMAO at you for you ability to flip flop your emotions so quickly. Man, if some of you were GM's you would be making trades every other week.

Its a mirage.

Too many people have a hard time separating their emotions as fans from what players really are.

So what do we do until Brassard decides to hit that stretch that he goes a PPG? He still stinks defensively and causes far too many turn overs for someone with supposed elite offensive ability, particularly the bad decisions he makes with the puck.

This is true, considering his qualifying offer has to be at least 4 million. And he's not a 4 million dollar player.

Plus the fact, Brassards qualifier is only his exact salary. 3.2M

His cap hit 3.2 million. He makes 3.7 million in salary, give or take escrow taxes all that jazz. So for the Rangers to qualify him they have to qualify him at 10% above his salary this year, 3.7 million.

Thats my point exactly. I'm looking at what Brassard has done historically. Not being emotional and only looking at the current stretch. Emotions would have me get rid of him right now. Looking at it clearly shows on a bad CBJ team where he was often moved up and down the line, he scored on average a little more than 40pts the last few years there. Coming to a better team, he immediately scored at a higher pace. Now he's had a tough year, but keep in mind almost EVERYONE on the team is having a down scoring year. THat factors in it too. So to say Brassard is waste and giving up is just being emotional and not analytical. Common sense says he will pick it up again and should finish the year 40-50pts. And he can also be a great playoff player for us. He showed it last year being our best scorer.

Qualifying offers for RFA's making over 1M is 100% of their current salary.

Fine. It's not worth our time arguing over like 300k. I still wouldn't qualify him anyway. No right now. He better turn his game around have like 40 points over the next 51 games for me to change my mind.

Heres the thing, as a third line center, as much as we need scoring, hes not the type of player we need there. Hes the reason why teams like Boston run us over and NJ frustrate us. Our third line is soft and a defensive liability.

I wanna know what the bothers you about Hagelin. He is a 20-40 players, he's paid like it. But at least he hustles. That's more than I can say for most of this roster. 3 hardest working forawrds are Kreider, Zuccs and Hagelin. That in itself is the problem.
- tomburton99

Um, WUT

Sorry, but hagelin is not a 60+ pt guy

If the stars align for him, he hits the 50s

Lets put it this way..
Who would you rather have out there vs. Lucic-Krejci-Iginla line?

Hagelin, Brassard, Miller/Asham/Callahan?
or
Glencross, Ott, Callahan?

It's been mentioned before & it would be costly to acquire him but personally I think Chris Stewart would be perfect for this team. Power forward, hits, fights, stands in front of the net, scores goals. He's what they need.

Brassard has 7 credited giveaways this year. Richards has 17 (the most for a forward). Excluding the Dmen (because they tend to have more in the Dzone against forecheckers), Boyle, Pouliot, Hagelin, Kreider, Zuccarello, Callahan and Stepan all have more giveaways than Brassard. His +/- is pretty bad but so is a 3rd of the team.

Giveaways is a complete bullpoop stat. In fact in terms of team giveaways, giveways have been linked to winning. Reason being, you have to have the puck to have it be taken away from you. So teams that are good have a lot of giveaways because they have the puck on their sticks a lot.

He's a 20-40 pt palyer. I missed the pt my sentence, that's on me.. But I clearly take what you say with a grain of salt. Especially after Zuccs comment last night.

Rangers doesn't have enough assest ti get both Ott and Glencross. and Haglin is a keeper, especially at what he's paid.

That Zucs doesn't belong in the top 6 on a cup contending team?

Clearly my opinion but I think its a harsh truth that will show itself

Name me another team that has won a cup with a comparable player to zucs in their top six

I think you're mistaken that stat with Hits. Teams that have the puck a lot often are not getting a lot of hits. Giveaways are different. You can have the puck a lot and not have giveaways. If your possession ends with a shot, you aren't giving the puck away. Giveaways are credited only when a player loses possession of the puck and the opponent takes possession immediately after. Shots don't count. So a good possession team doesn't necessarily mean they have giveaways if they end their possession with a shot attempt. Thats what AV is constantly harping about, puck management. When you have the puck, make sure when you don't have it, a teammate has it next or its a shot attempt. If you get the puck and the next thing constantly is the opponent has it, that means you are guilty of giveaways.

So you're comparing ray whitney, the wizard, a 9-time 60+ pt scorer to mats zuccarello?

Come on man...

You said a team that had a player like Zuccs in the top during their cup run. Ray Whitney had 55 points that year. Zuccs would be on pace for for 54 points this year. So.......

So you're comparing him based on ray whitneys 12th best scoring season of his career (in which he also missed 19 games that season)?

This is really reaching now, they aren't even in the same arena

He also has scored those 20 points in his last 23 games after going scoreless his first seven. If you believe the Zuccarello of the last 23 games is closer to the real Mats Zuccarello, and I do, then he would be on something closer to a 70-point pace. Plus he is producing playing with different linemates. He's been with Step and Nash and the last few games it's been with Richards and Callahan. It isn't like he is benefiting playing with one elite player.

Small forward, moderate at best production, feisty but not physically imposing

I would compare zuccarello to a nathan gerbe, tyler ennis, or cam atkinson
