I've looked for that. He goes down but his head never strikes the ice that I can see. He sort of goes down on his lower back. Does his head hit the ice after the punch?
He obviously injured and I know you can get a concussion without the actual impact, I thought whiplash. - mayorofangrytown
I thought it was the punch to the jaw that put him out. |

Flyers broke his back by letting him carry the offense for too long.
I would really like it if super-star Giroux showed up for the rest of the season. This current Giroux is a younger Briere (Whom I love nonsexually). - Flyersgod

The one replay I saw his head does hit the ice, but it could well be a whiplash case. - Jsaquella
Sometimes, it's not how hard a guy gets hit in the head, but where and how.
Also, I think Shawn Thornton is going to have PLENTY of time coming up to devote to his many off ice charities that I've been told he is involved in. |

The Flyers weren't a earner in the early years... they were a weak-sister franchise, a foolhardy experiment... just like hockey in the desert and hockey in Florida seems to us now.
Not all the experiments are going to work, but you have to give them every opportunity to do so, and hope that the league will be stronger overall for them. - Tomahawk
How long have Phoenix, Florida, and Devils been around? Long enought to develop a fan base, or lack there of. I dont mind supporting teams like Dallas or Tampa, or Colorado for a few year, because they do have fan bases, and will emerge again once the team is good. You compairing apple and oranges. |

I'd look into Bouchard... good possession player, useful on the PP, great skater, plays all three forward positions, makes plays, expiring contract. - Tomahawk
Wish the Isles could take on some cash -- Bouchard for Meszaros makes perfect sense for both teams.
I honestly think Bouchard -- who hasn't played well for them, by all accounts -- could actually have "The Downie Effect" on Schenn and, to a lesser degree, Simmonds.
Those two could really use a playmaking winger. Yes, Bouchard's soft, but he would really fit those two particular players well, I think.

Kind of surprised that they haven't done that yet. Made the big trade, calling up top prospect...Capuano's next to go - Jsaquella
Sad part is...I'm really not thinking this is his fault. The Isles' defense and goaltending...that's a tough one to have to deal with, over 82 games.

Florida drew a lot of fans when they first got there, with all the plastic rats during the Cup run and all. Ownership and management just did a really poor job after that of retaining them.

There should be no discussion. He should get a game or two - Jsaquella
There are rules in game to cover what happened to Rinaldo. And the same rules applied when Emery did the same thing, only worse. There are no grounds for suspension on either events. |

Agreed! Based on his past history, I would have given him 10 and made it clear that the next time he pulls a stunt like this it will be 20. - BiggE
I wish Neal had gotten 10 -- not simply because he's a Penguin, but because I honestly think that guy is dirty. I really do. I think he's as cheap as they come in the league -- he just doesn't do it game in, game out.
But he's a cheap player -- he'll run you from behind, cross-check and slew-foot, come in high.
But he doesn't fight. That's what I don't like about him. As much as Rinaldo pissed me off on Saturday, at least he does one thing for all of his idiocy: He answers the bell.

His head never hits the ice. Watch the reverse angle feed starting around 2:05. It was a freak accident. Innocent looking contact with an absolutely horrible result.

poop like that just pisses me off...Half Assed Bob Barker wannabe spouts off about Emery, then doesn't make a peep when Thornton assaults Orpik and Neal knees a guy in the head while he's down & in vulnerable position.
Just spin the wheel you (frank)ing hack - Jsaquella
This happened on Sajak's watch last week. Just a touch inappropriate considering the circumstances.

And thus they should lose the team. Give another market a shot. Look at the difference between Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets. Perfect example. Night and day. Team isnt all that better, but NHL and team automatically get a boost in marketing, merchandise, ect.
There are plenty of other Cities that can be given a shot:
Kansis City,Seattle, Portland, Vegas, Quebec, Markham or Hamilton, & Nova Scotia. |

5 games for Neal. - PLindbergh31
He is such a cheap punk. I don't cry for Marchant but that was so dirty. and to hear him say "I will have to look at the tape" when asked if he did it on purpose just burned me |

Behind the play Neal "accidentally" kneed Marchand in the head when he was down on the ice and no one else was around.
The sequence is worth watching though cuz Thornton's hit on Orpik immediately after was also a travesty. I'm sure he's going to get 10+. - FlyersGrace

I would give Akeson a chance to play with Schenn or Simmonds. Or let him play with G and put Voracek with Schenn and Simmonds. |
