And thus they should lose the team. Give another market a shot. Look at the difference between Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets. Perfect example. Night and day. Team isnt all that better, but NHL and team automatically get a boost in marketing, merchandise, ect.

There are plenty of other Cities that can be given a shot:
Kansis City,Seattle, Portland, Vegas, Quebec, Markham or Hamilton, & Nova Scotia.

The problem lies more with how inept the NHL is at finding competent owners, and how inept GM's hired by those inept owners are capable of destroying the product in its infancy, than any inherent limitations of the market.

Winnipeg looks fine so far, but it might not even necessarily be a better long-term fit for the league than any of the southern markets. If the exchange rate goes in the US's favor again, or the team continues to stink, there is a high % that the team could fail again. The margins are razor thin for them, even under the best of circumstances.

Meanwhile, you've created essentially zero new hockey fans by going up there... the game isn't growing. You've got some short-run revenue growth, but you've gained very little for the future.

My problem with Neal is not only is he dirty, but he's sneaky as well. He's a tough guy to root for. I'm not going to lose any sleep over Marchand taking a knee to the dome though, (frank) that little bastard.

Rinaldo should be interchangeable with McGinn.

I'd rather call up Holmstrom if Rinaldo was getting the chop. McGinn doesn't really strike me as an effective 4th liner.

The ref did call it immediately but Neal was already on the bench when Thornton went looking for someone to answer for it so he picked Orpik instead. If Neal had stayed on the ice this whole conversation might have been very different.

The whole game was over the top and nasty - and it all started from the Orpik hit. Clean but it still took a player out of the game. That's always going to piss off the other team.
Honestly, I'm just glad that the Penguins are bringing out the worst in someone else's team. They do it to us all the time. I'm hoping the league wizens up and stops making them the "face" of the NHL because I'm tired of watching them be touted as the best and then seeing this bullpoop on a regular basis...
