So he should be producing at 1.25x their individual production averages, all things being equal? - jmatchett383
I don't know, but blindly with the "he's scoring at a better rate than the Sedins" isn't an oranges to oranges comparison.

So, theoretical question:
The Flyers win the Cup. However, their roster is (somehow) composed of these players:
Matthew Barnaby
Darius Kasparitis
Tie Domi
Ulf Samuelsson
Sean Avery
Martin Brodeur
Sidney Crosby
Dale Hunter

Braydon Schenn averages 15 minutes of ice time per game now, as he did in the lockout year.
The Sedins didn't see that kind of ice time until their 4th full year, when they both broke out.
Henrik and Daniel weren't even seeing the ice for 13 minutes a game in their second year.
Braydon Schenn gets 15 minutes of ice time after 100+ NHL games.
The Sedin comparision doesn't wash with me, sorry. - johndewar
Schenn plays slightly more minutes and has scored at a slightly faster rate. I don't think he's as skilled as the Sedins or will ever put up 100+ points in a season, but the fact remains that even some extremely talented players don't break out till their mid 20s. The Sedins didn't break out till after the lockout when they were 25 - in their fourth season they only scored 54 and 42 points.
B Schenn - 62 points in his first 139 games
D Sedin - 66 points in first 154 games
H Sedin - 65 points in his first 164 games |

Damn right.
The parade will be just as much fun.
Side note: I've seen a guy at the Flyers games in an Ulf Samuelsson jersey.
It was a full on #55 Ulf Samuelsson jersey. I had to think that guy was related to Ulf or something.

Slightly?
Almost 2+ minutes per game at this point compared to the Sedins.
That's more than slightly. |

For the record, that equates to about 13 points (60/2 * points/games). |

62/139 = .446 PPG
(66+65)/(154+164) = .411 PPG
So Schenn is scoring at a 8.5% faster rate while playing 15% more minutes. I think the comparison is quite valid if you accept that the Sedins are naturally more skilled hockey players than BSchenn, hence them being #2 and #3 in their draft. |

Everyone keeps focusing on these ancillary players.
To me, the main problem with this team right now is the play of Giroux, Voracek, and Hartnell.
If they were even playing average as a group, we would be a winning team.
Giroux is supposed to be the guy, and his upcoming contract says as much. When you are the "guy", it shouldn't matter who you are matched up against. YOU are the one who is supposed to elevate the games of the players you play with, not the other way around. YOU are the one who is supposed to go out there and produce when it counts. I don't care if you are leading the team in points, with this team that is like winning the hundred yard dash at the Special Olympics consolation race.
It is time for Giroux to start producing game winning goals and points. There is no if and or buts. Do it, and do it consistently, or you ARE a fraud making 8.25 million a year for the next 7 years.
Rant over.

I'm not clear on this comparison.
Daniel Sedin played 75 games his first year in Vancouver in 2000/01. Henrik had 82. At the end of their second year the next season, both brothers had more games played under their belt than B Schenn does right now.
The Sedin's turned 22 sometime during their 2nd full season, the same age B Schenn is right now.
Also, can the benefit of playing with your twin, someone you've quite literally been playing hockey with your entire life, be under-stated?

I agree with all of this.
The players that are paid to play like top players or are given responsibilities that top players are given have to start acting like it or we'll be talking about draft possibilities (again) come April.

Gotcha. I guess I would only comment that the Sedin's played more games as older players than B Schenn, and therefore, from a development standpoint (let alone the whole twin thing), it makes sense they put up more points, even with less ice time on average. |

I don't think Schenn will ever have the defensive capabilities of those guys. I see him more as a PF with good hands. |
