After tonight's game, the road trip concludes on Wednesday with a tilt against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, who also currently sport the best record in the NHL this season. The next night, the Flyers are home in Philly to take on the Montreal Canadiens in the Flyers' third game in four nights.

If you have a few minutes today, check out Brad Marsh's new blog in the top section on the topic of concussions. It's a must-read with some different perspectives than most of what is published on the topic.

Thanks... done. I always cut and paste the previous game's preview so that I have all the formatting in place as well as Flyers lines, and then write new copy and edit as needed. Forgot to delete that paragraph.

Why don't we call up Denis tonight, and let his averages go up? I really would hate to see Emery, and Mason mess up theirs. I bet Emery gets pulled in the third, and Mason gets much of the same stuff Emery was pulled for in the third...
Oh, and Emery comes off the bench in the third to attack Raanta who was trying to get some NHL experience tonight... The discussion of the night will not be the loss, but how many games Emery will be suspended.

Simpson has been horrible this year in Rockford. He's posted somewhere around a 3.50 gaa. Raanta should hopefully get the start again tonight. Regardless of who's in net, expect the Hawks to play a solid defensive game to limit scoring chances.

Thanks, it was a very interesting read.

One thing I do agree with is that all of us, especially kids, spend WAY too much time on computers, Ipads and smartphones. Between technology and "organized activities" I have to wonder if kids ever just go outside and play anymore.

In his autobiography, Bobby Orr makes a similar point: he feels that todays North American hockey players lack creativity in their game because every moment they've ever spent on the ice has been strictly regulated and organized. These kids rarely if ever just get out on the ice and spend a few hours just fooling around with puck and having fun.

As someone who grew up in the late 60s and 70s I think today's kids are missing out on a lot of what being a child should be about. Sad

On that note, I think that I will text, tweet, twerk, and play golf all at the same time. I bet that the Flyers will be doing the same thing come summer time...lol.
It's nice to know what's important, now that they all have long term contracts.

We'd probably lose 8-7 in a shootout! Emery would stop 2 outta 3 but the Flyers would hit 2 posts and mini Ditka would snag 1

Oh, it's gotta be TAZER.

"Jonathan Toews, who played at fabled Shattuck-St. Mary's and went on to play for Dave Hakstol at the University of North Dakota".

Honestly, I wish I could bet on the fact that all of this that I just typed gets mentioned by Pierre tonight.

Amazingly, that $71 million is not yet impacted by the 12-year, $5.2 billion Canadian television rights package, which the Board approved yesterday. That deal begins next season (2014-15) and will bump the 2015-16 salary-cap numbers.

Pierre's commentary or Emerick's play-by-play?

Tie - they both make me want to watch with the volume muted.

Estimates are 7.5+ million bump in the cap just from the deal they are saying. That should put the cap well over 80 million the following season.

well at least it will accomplish 2 things:
1. Someone will trade for Pronger just to reach the cap floor in 15-16 & 16-17
2. The inevitable buyout of Streit will be less painful
