I'd personally like to keep the certainty that is Read, and the PK ability...
Over that "potential" of bSchenn. I'd look to deal the Schenn brothers myself. - flyer_nutter
Right now - and especially after we dealt Richards and Carter - I'd be open to moving anyone on this team if the right deal came along, except Mason. The player I think we'd have the hardest time replacing given his age, cap hit, and performance, is Coburn. So he'd be the last guy I moved, right after Couts. |

youd trade giroux before coburn and coots? or is it just like an implied thing that he doesnt count for these kind of discussions?
also, i wonder what mason is going to command. it would be hard to tell him no |

to get that star power though, it is going to cost big time. if im an opposing team, coots is the first thing i ask for. girardi is a really underrated option though.
and totally agree about gus. its impossible for him to take a step forward without any playing time - stayinthefnnet
They cant buy that power. The only way I see that is maybe through a trade in bringing in Edler/Yandle.
You need to draft that these days most of the time. Which I why I don't really favour the approach the Leafs have taken for years. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Nobody is saying tank, but I would rather give minutes to the kids, or at least give them more of a chance, instead of continuing to sign aging veterans, or playing these guys heavy minutes when they wont be here at the time this team is ready to establish itself near the top of the league.
More of a balance anyway toward developing the youth. Kids like McGinn, Cousins, Akeson, Lauridsen, Alt Guss, and to a lesser degree Luke Schenn should be playing heavier minutes. They may not pan out, and nobody is saying to give them the majority of the minutes, but those veterans you are playing in their place? Those morons aren't going to get any better and wont be here when this team is ready to compete. |

What I hope they look at most is how Mason rebounds when he faces adversity, like he is now.
Look at that, more than the hot streaks. |

The caveat is the phrase "the right deal". But yes, I'd deal G given the right return. He needs to drastically improve his play to come even remotely close to the salary he's about to start earning next season. He's going to be getting paid difference-maker money and he's been invisible most of the year. |

true. but at the same time, even the best goalie cant compensate for the team in front of him all of the time |

Haha true enough, I think Id be inclined to keep Giroux for the sheer reason of not having this team continue to be a laughing stock. Too much headless chicken. |

i still think it would be hard to win a deal involving him. |

Well that was the knock on Morin from some of us here. That he already seems to fit the bill of what the team has. When they desperately needed that offensive puck moving threat instead of a shutdown guy.
They better hope he pans out to at least be a good shutdown d-man. - flyer_nutter
if we picked another dman by the time he was ready for a major role coburn or grossman would already be gone and the team would look much different |

Good news everyone! The MLB is banning home plate collisions no later than 2015. Players have to slide or stop. |
