My take was I wish he would have done that to Jackman last year.

I don't think anyone saw the Holtby thing in a positive light but that game seemed to be a turning point for your record. Do you think it brought the team together?

A win tonight is hardly a sure thing. Hawks have been up and down with this lineup. Having Shaw back helps.

- steelhead

I personally know it brought them together. I think a few guys on the team even said it did.

Let's get him one of those under the chin things like Bobby has.

Seeing that Couturier grin over that glorified booze bowl would make me the happiest guy in the world.

That is reserved for Toews. They may give Razor a decal on some form of dispenser in the bathroom though.

He got his name on the cup. That is what counts.

I would have voted for the statue if he had given Jackman the Holtby treatment.

Toews is a great player... But he's not getting a statue. Statues are reserved for iconic athletes that transcend their sport. Toews isn't close.

I still don't get this. Not growing up in the area I just do not understand the whole obsession. The fiancee often plays eye of the tiger and I just stare at him blankly...

Iconic moment in movie history! Everyday, hundreds of people run up the steps of the art museum and raise their hands in the air!

Not at all. I thought the move was a head shaker. I think the team needed talent and leadership. Not sure they got that with Vinny.

He has fabulous talent but he's breaking down. I'm more surprised at how unobtrusive he is on the team. He scores but he's hardly making himself known on the ice or off of it. He's like a ghost.

- mayorofangrytown

I have to disagree.
I think he was our best forward for the first portion of the season. (Yes, I know that's not saying much). He really does give that second line some stability. It felt like he gave them the confidence they could score - because he never doubted his own abilities. It was nice to see. Then he started to downslide. How long has his back really been bugging him? Hard to say...
But I wouldn't say he's been a ghost.
And I'm not in the locker room so I can't speak for his leadership - but I bet if you pull the stats for the games he has been in versus not in we've played better... Particularly that second line.

While this is NHL.com manufactured bullpoop, it still makes me happy

If I was G this would fire me up....
Should be him on the front page.
And if you read the article - while it's not completely insulting it's kinda a strecth comparison...
I wasn't impressed.
But I'm a biased Flyers fan.

Couturiers line is our second best line. I never understood why the best checking line needs to be referred to as 'the third line' even if they have scoring ability. In reality, Couturier's line has been our top line ever since Downey joined the team.

Good to hear about Shaw. I have a soft spot for him...
So I'll enjoy watching him play.

As for the Emery / Holtby fight I would say it was a definite wake up call for some of the players. I think it was unwaranted but hysterical. I'm glad Holtby shook it off and wasn't hurt, but man I was crying...

is there any thought to Couturier playing for the US Olympic team? He has dual citizenship. Maybe as a 4th line checking line. It would be fun to see him frustrate Malkin in Russia.

I agree whole heartedly... Downey really did light a fire for Coots and Read which I really like and they have been our best performing line...

I hear plans have already started for a Nick Foles statue. They have also put together plans to tear it down when he throws his second interception.

This is an odd thought, but would they take down the Rocky statue if sylvestor stallone did something horrible?
