Nothing wrong with a standing ovation either ...... vs a '' USA, USA'' chant. - Chris48
For sure, a standing ovation is classy. The "USA, USA, USA" chant... Not so much lol.... |

Dude that was a Soldier home for the holidays that the Flyers helped to surprise his family. Nothing wrong with having pride in our country.

And at the end of the game. And at several other stoppages.
I cheered for the guy who came home (that was well done) but there were 2 other times it happened as well. |

Again, I don't have a problem with that. I personally don't do it, but have no problem. It's when it happens because we're an "American" team playing a "Canadian" team that I can't stand it. |

Brian Propp poked his head in to the radio broadcast booth last night. Bundy and Saunders started talking about his analyst days.
Saunders: "Brian Propp just informed me that if Montreal scores two goals, the game will be tied."
- MBFlyerfan
My memory of Propp as an analyst actually involves Dmitry Tertyshny.
I was listening on the radio and I guess Tertyshny had a bad give away, causing Hextall to have to make a big save, which he did.
Propp: "Hextall really saved Tertyshny's ass on that play."
{a few seconds of stunned silence followed by awkward, nervous laughter from Saunders} |

Adam Hall? - fnmjoe13
I was referring to Couturier, but yes, Adam "Waiver" Hall is also from the US. |

I don't have a problem with it, I just think it reflects poorly, that's all. If people want to do it, by all means. |

It was significantly later that the USA chant got going. Perhaps because of something related to individuals in the military, or perhaps because some fans have head injuries.
Who said there was anything wrong with having pride in our or any other country? Seems a bit extreme. |

by the way, nice win last night. would have liked to see more than two goals, especially on the 5 min major. wasted 5 minutes.
on another note, the fact that our d lineup changes every night, and not due to injury kind of tells me that it sucks. i thought streit was brutal the last few games, and mez gets scratched? good lord, i miss chris pronger. |

Do you have to drink it after that piece of plastic goes into the cup? I'll play the game while holding my beer. |

How is the USA chant any less classy then the Ole Ole Ole chant or Na na na na chant? I'm not one to chant anything, but really, people go to games to have fun; who cares. |

Streit has been underwhelming to say the least, but Mez has been pretty awful. He was directly responsible for the 2nd goal in the Chicago game (lazily skating the puck out of the zone and getting caught from behind), so I have no problem parking his butt down, especially since he's done after this year. |

I just found it odd, seeing as Montreal has more US-born players than the Flyers. Classy or not, just seems silly to me. I don't cheer for the USA Flyers, I cheer for the Philadelphia Flyers. I'll cheer for the USA at international competitions. National pride had zero to do with the teams on the ice last night. |

Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal - and I'm not a chanter either - but it did strike me as a little odd cause I don't really consider playing Montreal (or any other Canadian team) an international match.
But you're right, it definitely could have been for the guy who came out as a present, or some other individual in the military, or perhaps even something shown on the jumbotron. |
