they're a lot closer to last in their division, conference and overall than they are to first. Kinda hard to be upbeat or positive right now.

Mason is the only reason we can even seen a playoff spot right now..
He is by far the MVP of this team.
Doesn't change the fact that his handling of the puck on the game tying goal cost the team.

Two lost faceoffs and screens then masons flub. Poor instances but they played well. I hope they play the next 50 games like this

On the other hand, I think they are playing the style they need to play with what they have on hand.

At least when I watch, I feel like they have a puncher's chance. I do think they are talent deficient on the blue line and even in their top 6 forward group. I think there is upside in their top 6 forward group. Not so much their blue line. I think they have pieces on their blue line other teams could use.

The Flyers' blue line is like a car that has two suspensions, but only three wheels.

I said a couple weeks ago, the Flyers are a mediocre team. They will finish with 82-87 points and finish somewhere between 3rd and 7th in their division. The only reason they have ANY chance to make the playoffs is because after Pittsburgh and to a lesser extent Washington, their division is awful.

I have seen nothing since then to change my opinion.

Yes, he misplayed the puck. But it's not like he shot it into his own net. The team in front of him did a lousy job of bailing him out, like he's done for them time and time again.

Like I said, he's coming back down to earth... not just the saves that he isn't making right now, but luck is turning against him too... it all evens out over 82-games... statistical regression is unavoidable.

On the other hand, I think they are playing the style they need to play with what they have on hand.

Good analysis. I think the combo of lack of mobility on the back end the need for a true scorer up front will be a bit too much to overcome
