Who cares (frank).
No offense or anything. They are all rich boys, who do nothing for the most of us anyway, just ALL cater to the needs of corporations and the mega rich. Wake up. Its all a sham, and has been for a while.
Done on this topic. - flyer_nutter
The important thing is that we all booed Sarah Palin. Some (me) by using derogatory words that we are no longer proud of that may or may not rhyme with "Go back to Africa (yes, that's right, I said Africa) you trucking punt!" That may or may not have resulted in my punching the guy in front of me for putting his hands on me. |

I'd get rid of both, and get a mentor with a bit more left in the tank than Kimmo has left. I love the guy, but that needle is hovering over the E - Jsaquella
I'd be in for that, but I don't really see that guy available.
Any names? |

Communism is just a step up from Socialism. Socialism is Liberalism. - Flyersgod
No, socialism is socialism. The idea that the two are equivalent is rightwing media magic.
The problem is, nothing is black and white. We don't have - and I would argue can't and shouldn't - pure capitalism or pure socialism but a mix of both. But that sentiment is going to depend upon your (my) societal goals and expectations.

I really liked O'Donnell in his time here. Provided much of that stability that Douglas Murray is giving Montreal right now. |

Aside from Drew Doughty, exactly what impact players on LA's squad were high (top-5) draft picks? Aside from Seguin, which ones for Boston? It can be done. - jmatchett383
Well.. Considering Doughty is a #1 D on a team that won a cup, you can't really exclude him in this comparison. And as far as LA goes... they also built through trading that year.
Both teams have clear cut #1 defenseman. If, we wait and hope someone turns into that #1, but they don't. At what point do you trade for one? Or do you just keep accepting mediocrity until one pans out, possibly 10 years from now?
As much as you may hate it, trading to get what you want is the only sure way to get what you need. The rest is gambling, if a cup within a certain timeframe is what you are after. |

I'd rather have the availability to land guys you dislike than keep Timonen
The issue is, the FA class is relatively weak. It's a lot of guys like Streit, with one real top pair guy in or near his prime in Phaneuf. There's guys like Henrik Tallinder that can provide solid depth.
Another good choice-although not really a top pair guy- is Dan Girardi, assuming the Rangers don't re-sign him. Of course, he'll demand a high salary |

Nutter is out, and couldn't resist.
For those that know a little about history, the French Revolution imho is a good example of where things are headed, why they are, and why they should.
Maybe not so radical.
How are we different from (frank)ing medieval times, where those in power got rich off of the sweat from our backs just so we could survive.
In reality, its not much different, and heading in the wrong direction.
There will be a revolution one day. Again, as history repeats itself. |

What does liberals and liberty have in common? Nothing.
Don't try to pretend that liberals stand for liberty. - Flyersgod
Yikes. Where do these absolutes come from?
Define "Liberty". Is it having the most people in prison of any developed nation? Citizens United? A constant state of war? |

My point being though, if you are essentially going to be paying Streit/Timonen the same money.
Would you rather not keep Timonen for 1-2 years, instead of Streit for the next century? Timonen, who imo is the better all round player. |

Okay, you tell me how the Flyers go about acquiring an elite defenseman (there's about 6 in the league), the most coveted player in the league today, and I'm all ears. Really, what's the trade slick? How are we going top acquire of of Weber, OEL, Pietrangelo, Karlsson, Doughty (if he's even really elite), or Keith. |

When do we get to see Alt up with the Flyers? He's 22, and due to get his shot sooner rather than later. |

Once he has a full AHL season and/or the Flyers blueline is decimated by inuries and/or they're out of the playoff hunt. Whichever happens first. |

I'd give him an outside shot next season, maybe more than that if he continues to play solidly. |

Obviously Timonen, but my point is, let's try to avoid overpaying any aging guy who is on his last legs and be smarter. |

Aside from a Pronger in his twilight (whom is the exception here), how many clear cut top defensemen have been traded in recent history? |

None. McDonagh was, when he was an unknown in (I believe) the Gomez deal. The only two that come close to the criteria (that I can think of) are Bouwmeester and Campbell. And I wouldn't consider them top defenseman. |

On a positive, unrelated note, today is my daughter's 6-week bday anniversary. Which means mommie goes for her 6-week lady doctor visit. Which means daddy may be very happy tonight. |

I think both are top pair defensemen, if not true number one defensemen. |

Top pair maybe. But they're a step down from guys like Doughty, Chara. |
