Key to tonight's game.

1. Do not screen your goalie because you're trying to block everything.

2. Do not deflect everything into the net because you're trying to block everything.

3. Keep it simple.

Yeah, he had that dominating game where he played, what, 32 minutes?

I think that was when Montreal's goon White ended Huskins career with a disgusting headshot.

I think with Hartnell and looking at the team make up, they are heavy on grinders at forward and have an abundance of defense first D, but lack forward finishing skill and puck moving defenseman.

If by trading Hartnell you can fix some of the balance needed to win, then you have to look at it.

I personally would rather keep Simmonds over Hartnell if given the option. Just because of age and the contract and their role on the team.

I'd love them to be able to keep everyone and fix things through the draft but that won't happen given the front office.

I'm not a big fan of Simmonds or Hartnell. People keep saying we need that kind of player, but in truth neither has been a net front presence at all the last 2 seasons. They arent good along the walls and are turn-over machines. I would much rather let Hartnell go for a pick and use Simmonds as part of a trade to get a top d-man.

nahh... If St. Louis really does have interest in Hartnell then retain 500k-1mil of his salary and add anything to him that you need to get Shats. Cheaper money wise and asset wise.
- JAKEw1234

St. Louis wouldn't trade Shattenkirk for Hartnell in his prime, lol, much less this shadow of a player that's on offer today.

If there is a trade to be made that will help the team both now and in the future (extreme example: 7th rounder for Shea Weber), then make it. I'm all for it. If a player isn't playing well, then feel free to comment on it and voice your displeasure. Again, it's the constant fickleness ranging from belittling him and demanding he be given away ASAP to beaming about his fantastic play and viewing his as a key piece that gets to me.
- jmatchett383

I only hope that Hextall has a significant amount of input regarding any trades that will be made from this point on. He'll be the one inheriting this mess eventually.

Kimmo strikes me more as that final piece for a team that doesn't mind mortgaging the future... Colorado doesn't seem to fit that MO.

If I were them, I'd sniff around Andrew MacDonald, Nikita Nikitin or Kris Russell... I wouldn't mind giving up draft picks for a young-ish guy that I could re-sign and keep moving forward.

any of the top teams seem like a fit for a trade deadline Kimmo?

Pitt, no
Chicago, maybe
Boston, I don't think so
LA, doubt
Anaheim, maybe
San Jose, maybe

You could throw in picks/prospects, retain 50% salary, and Homer could offer to wash Armstrong's car for the life of the deal, and they wouldn't go for it.

All those teams don't have enough cap-space... all in LTIR. Except for ANA, but they're closer to the Avs situation than a last-piece-of-the-puzzle kind of team.

I like Simmonds.

Also I like Hartnell.
There are roles for these guys on every team.

The Flyers just have too many of this type of player, and I think Hartnell's contract extension is just bad.

Maybe a team on the bubble of a playoff berth would be interested come the TD.

It is possible to develop diffent opinions of players. For example a couple years ago I absolutely hated everything about Hartnell. His play with Jagr shut me up, and with the absence of Pronger I saw how valuable he was to the lockerroom. I didn't kill him at all last season because of his injuries and the lockout. However, myh opinion is starting to revert again. Just not sure if he is key to the future of this team if this is how he is going to cintinue to play.

At the same time, there are guys that I just dont like. Like Simmonds. There are times that I go on rants because of his play, and other times, that I just shut-up about it.

Think the only fit cap, standings and need wise would be MIN... not sure Kimmo would waive to go there, though.

If you were Homer, would you trade Voracek for Volchenkov (50% retained salary) plus a top-60 pick and/or decent prospect under any circumstances?

I dont have a problem with the Role. Its just my opinion those players aren't playing that role. They dont drive the net. They dont stand in front of the net for diflections. And they dont win board battles.

I think the problem is, Hartnell's realistic value isn't as bad as you make it out to be.

The cap situation could change enough between now and then for several teams.

I'm hoping he'd rather take his final shot with a team in the PO's rather that ride quietly towards midnight sun if the Flyers are definitely on the outside.

Hartnell is immoveable. If the Flyers can move him w/o picking up 50% of his contract it would be a miracle.

The raise in Cap space defiantely helps his value, but I dont think your getting much for him. Is it possible to swing a Shattenkirk with hartnell being part of a deal, sure. But I doubt you could with Hartnell being the main piece.
