Moved the "captain" Shawn Horcoff. Fixed our FO issue. Brought in some Ference and Belov who were nice additions to the back end.

He filled a lot of holes, unfortunately he didn't fill the top pairing d and didn't get a goalie. Although in the summer I had more faith in Dubnyk

Some of the UFA signings have been good! Excluding the goalie he just traded away lol. How about working magic to get rid of Horcoff?. He did claim Gazdic off waivers, he has been an enforcement beast.

He's had many deals fall through too. Busiest gm in hockey by most peoples accounts.

I agree, but he still added 3 pieces that were an instant success and weren't 4th liners or #7 d-men.

Anyone that is pissed because guys like Grebs or Acton failed need to give their head a shake. No GM that makes more than 2 off-season deals goes mistake free.

I thought the Gordon deal was solid, he's a perfect 3rd line center and with the cap going up, that's a good deal(especially considering he was a UFA).

The thing is he saw DD poopting the bed and tried to prevent it. As for our d not geling, geling has nothing to do with it. They flat out don't have a top pairing to ease the load.

People think MacT are stupid and doesn't know what he's doing, yet the 3 moves that he tried he's hardest to do are 3 moves that we are/were begging him to make now.

Top 6 physical guy-Clarkson
Top pairing d-man- Coburn
Top goal- got Ilya now and has been great, but did try get Schneider.


Maybe those aren't the right pieces, but they were the holes we faced/face and he tried to plug them with the best options out there.

Even if Clarkson was a bust here, he'd still be a physical presence to protect our kids in the top 6 with 70+ hits in 24 games.

The term is the worse part. And just look at his career stats, that doesn't really jump out as a 5 million dollar, 7 year contract type of guy. Especially since his best seasons came playing with a guy named Kovalchuck.

I do think he thought that Schultz and Petry would be better. And they might still be, but neither was ready for primetime this year.
