It was a clean hit. The onus is clearly on Schenn.

Shanny is saying Wilson was playing the puck at 400mph and Schenn is to blame. That's (frank)ing pathetic... |

How does Shanahan come up with his suspensions? Roll a pair of (frank)ing dice and consult a chart? |

the idea that only injury = suspension is seriously dumb - Marc D
its like walking into a bank, pulling a gun and announcing you are robbing the place, but then you walk out and leave the cash on the counter. no harm done right? so no jail time.
the inconsistency in the league is laughable. they will never get rid of these dangerous hits without takeing them seriously and hurting players in suspensions and paycheck, and getting players to repsect each other and not putting themselves in bad spots.
maybe reduce the protection their equipment gives, and give them wood sticks back so shots don't hurt as bad.
edit: and get rid of instigator so you can beat the aholes that want to hit like that faces in |

Stuff like this makes it REALLY hard to believe the league has no bias against the Flyers - BiggE
I love Tom Wilson as a player and Schenn definitely turned late making it worse but 2 things drive me nuts:
1. Wilson was charging regardless and Schenn was a very dangerous distance from the boards, so regardless of him turning late, Wilson knew Schenn was in a dangerous spot and still laid the hit.
2. Because Schenn avoided serious injury (thankfully), the league is okay with it. I look at intent and results are secondary. Shanahan is the opposite. If Neal knees Marchand in the head, I see intent. Whether Marchand gets concussed or not is secondary to me, Neal gets a long suspension. It's the whole high sticking penalty on a larger scale. I can hit a guy with the flat side of my stick in the face and I won't draw blood and get 2 PIM. I can accidentally nip a guy in the cheek with the edge of my stick and get 4 PIM. Ridiculous. End rant.
Edit: Or "slashing" a player who drops his stick or sees his stick break. |

I don't care much for the bias side of things, but with the lawsuit coming up this is the kind of thing the league has to straighten out. Some has to end up in a wheelchair before it is taken seriously, and someone will. This season has been extreme when it comes to bad hits and cheap shots. And it is obvious that shannahan doesn't have a (frank)ing clue what he is doing!
Interesting read by Paul Stewart in his blog of today too... |

I think this guy did predict there would be no suspension.
If Schenn broke his neck how many games would Wilson miss?
15? 20?
It's a joke how they decide these things. |

I'm not surprised the NHL didn't suspend Wilson. Schenn's playing tonight and that's usual the criteria, as stupid as it is. |

Shanahan: So I just wanted to make sure you feel bad about the hit.
Wilson: I do, I feel bad.
Shanahan: How bad?
Wilson: Really bad.
Shanahan: ...
Wilson: Really, really bad.
Shanahan: ...
Wilson: Really, really, really bad?
Shanahan: Ok, then. That's good enough for me. Plus it was really Schenn's fault.
Wilson: What's that?
Shanahan: Nothing. That concludes our meeting. I hope you've learned your lesson. |

Clean hits don't deserve suspensions or fines. End of story. - keatondixon
They don't. Wilson's hit was neither clean, nor legal, in the eyes of the NHL. He received a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. So even if it didn't garner a suspension, it's still a penalized hit, which means it wasn't a clean hit. |
