Then it's a good thing we didn't get that Carlson guy in the draft.
Even Simmonds can nutmeg that fraud.

Glad to see Laughton given the C for team canada. Can't wait to watch the jrs and see him play meaningful games. Also hope Leier makes the team but he sounds like he is on the bubble - AGL_91
Just seeing this news now. Good news and congrats to the kid on this honour. Very good experience for Laughton. Maybe he's not a bust after all. Lol. |

That's the thing. He's 19, and he's already a full-time top-4 defenseman. Laughton has yet to play 6 NHL games. I'm high on Laughton, but given the choice, I'd take Maatta right now. - jmatchett383
To bad the Pens wouldn't do it.
I wonder if they resign Niskenen.
He would be a good UFA for the Flyers to look at. |

Surely you aren't joking at the expense of John Carlson, the great American hero? |

Are you saying no, you wouldn't do it, or no, the Penguins wouldn't. Because if Pittsburgh seriously offered that, you take it 9 days a week. - jmatchett383
I wouldn't do it, for various reasons, prime among them being the Flyers don't yet know what they've got in Laughton. As for Maata, he seems pretty good, but he's got all of 36 games under his belt, and he's playing on one of the NHL's best teams. |

It's their other guy, that Alzner who is more neutral.
Like beige.
Carlson you can't be neutral on that guy, not possible. |

I wouldn't do it today. I think Laughton can be Ryan Kesler good. I've watched him play about 10 or 12 games this season and I've missed some of his better ones.
I like Maata just fine and I'd take him but I'm not giving up on Laughton before we truly know what we have. |

Yea, so when USA beats Canada AGAIN, it will be pinned on Laughtons leadership. Get him used to the Philly mentality now. |

I was at the first Flyers-Capitals prospect game at Skate Zone. As soon as the puck dropped, I yelled at Alzner, telling him how bad he was. Unlike most times, I'm sure he heard my words loud and clear.
And yes, John Carlson is an American hero. On NHL 12/13/14, he's the lower half backbone of my defense, after I've traded something like L. Schenn + Meszaros + 2 1sts for Shea Weber. |

It's definitely a hisk risk/high return trade, that's for sure. Pens need help past their top-5 (Crosby, Neal, Malkin, Kunitz, Dupusi) and Flyers need help...well, everywhere on D. |

Id say Ryan Kesler is what he might become if everything pans out. Whats a more likely comparable player? |
