Injury Update: #Flyers forward Steve Downie has an upper-body injury and will be out of action for 7-10 days per GM Paul Holmgren #NHL
Yeah Harry Z tends to do that. And Crosby always makes whoever hes playing with look like superstars. Personally I think that if you removed Kunitz and Dupuis from Crosby they would not look as good. Certainly they are solid nhlers but they just wouldnt put up the same points or be as good. What are the Pittsburgh lines looking like right now? - FrmRusiaWifGlov
kunitz and dupuis are definitely both solid nhl guys who could hit 20 on their own without crosby. but that being said, it would be foolish to think that crosby doesnt inflate the stats they put up. kunitz is a damn fine all around player, but with crosby the last 2 years he is one of the leagues top point getters.

coincidence or not, but ever since you guys reacquired him a lot of things have been night and day. and hes another one who seems to have for the most part eliminated a lot of recklessness from his game

It's okay we still have Rinaldo to make up for the level of dumb he has removed from his game.

true. i still just like seeing guys evolve past it. it shows they can learn to do it, and maybe if the league gets serious with discipline a lot of this stuff can be removed from the game.

If you didn't know about his past, you'd have no idea he had that type of reputation at one point.

And now that Downie is injured, none other than the infamous Rosehill will get to see the lineup.
Does this mean VandeVelde moves up a line? - FrmRusiaWifGlov
I'd much rather see McGinn, but I doubt he made the trip to Columbus. The drop off from Downey to Vandevelde is quite significant. First line will need to be good again tonight.

exactly. same with cooke. whether or not cooke should have even been given a chance to reform is debatable, but he has as well. it just shows that the league really needs to get severe with these punishments. start dishing out 10 to 15 game bans.

I completely agree. And they shouldn't reduce suspensions based on severity (or lack thereof) of injury. Could you imagine a criminal shooting someone in the chest and being like "Well I should serve less time because the bullet missed his heart and he survived."

yeah exactly. the act should be punished, not the result.
That's fine. I was being an idiot and not realizing after I saw Crosby first. - PhillySportsGuy
yeah. still a lot of ehh in that lineup right now and guys playing up a line. i can understand the not rushing malkin back though. alright guys im off for the day, i wont be back before your game so hopefully its another exciting one for everyone (although maybe a different result ) take care

If he is out 10 days that means 3 games missed. - Jsaquella
Okay so hed miss:
Columbus
Minnesota Wild
Edmonton
We could really use him for Columbus. Getting a win today is essential for keeping our playoff spot. Minnesota is another game we could use him for, but honestly I dont expect us to win that game. Lastly Edmonton should not pose too much difficulty so missing him might not be too terrible.
Overall Analysis: Losing Downie makes a huge hole in our lineup

I does create a hole, but it shouldn't be fatal.
I think I'd juggle things thusly:
12-28-93
19-14-24
76-10-17
37-18-36
That's without making a roster move, which they almost certainly won't do before tonight
