I fear something dumb as well. - ob18
Dumb would be trading a young guy for Brian Campbell. It'll be a long week with no hockey, or trades, just family and binge drinking in order to get along with said family |

If the Habs traded Pacioretty fr Brayden Schenn, the fans would riot, burn down the Bell Centre, Hang, tar & Feather, Draw and Quarter and behead Marc Bergevin...and then they'd get nasty.
Pacioretty would be a perfect fit for the Flyers top line. Not getting him for less than Couturier +. He's had a 30 goal season, and was on pace for another last year, and again this year...he'd cost an arm & leg and probably a testicle, too - Jsaquella
If we're trading them Couturier, I expect Subban coming back the other way, not Pacioretty.
He probably does cost more than just Schenn, but I'm not sure what else needs to be added to get it done. |

If they could get Campbell, with the same salary eating the Blackhawks got with Versteeg, for say, Luke Schenn...I might be tempted to say yes. |

Probably a ton. He's scored 30 goals once, and based on an 82 game season would have done it last year, plus he's on pace to do it again this year. He's got 5 years left after this one on a cheap cap hit ($4.5mm). Montreal would demand almost as much for him as they would Subban-and they'd be nuts not to.
My guess, for a conference team, they'd want Schenn or Simmonds, Laughton and a 1st, bare minimum and I don't even think that's enough. |

Erhoff would be my first choice. He's a first pair guy, plays all situations and has an extremely reasonable cap hit for a long time.
But I'd expect to overpay for him by a good bit-and Buffalo will want kids and picks. Look what they got for Vanek. |

Someone posted that the last thing the Flyers need is a winger. I could be wrong, not going back to find it.
If we're saying the Schenns and Simmonds are trade bait, we'd all drive Hartnell to whatever city would trade for him, and we're not sure about if Raffl will hold up as a top 6 winger, I'd say we definitely need to look at adding a winger.
However the combination of assets going out the door for a puck-moving defenseman such as Yandle, filling the void for a scoring winger for the top 6 also needs to be addressed.
If we could someone pull Yandle and Pacioretty trades off, re-sign Mason ad Downie to respectable extensions, and rid ourselves of Hartnell and Streit's contracts... Homer would regain his genius status.

Wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole right now. His contract is way too scary for the level of play he's had. He's not awful, but that's a huge cap hit for a 5th defenseman |

no, as badly as we need someone of his "ilk", I don't like that deal, Campbell may have some mileage left, but Luke could still be in the mix, I would like to dangle Luke or his brother for a younger defenseman.
Maybe more of a package deal, like I mentioned earlier, the Preds are always rich in D men yet nothing but grinders up front, and their center position isn't looking very good moving forward.

The problem is, the assets needed to get either Yandle or Pacioretty make getting the other one next to impossible.
I'd be willing to trade some decent assets to get a good, top pair defenseman now, before the TDL, then try to dump a contract or two at the draft and then target Phaneuf & a guy like Cammaleri in FA to buy time

True. I just don't think Luke has much value around the league. If I can get even a stop gap puck mover to buy time for Gostisbehere, Alt, et al, it's worth it, IMO.
I'm also not sure how much Florida would be willing to eat on campbell's deal. |

Yandle would be very expensive, and, why would the Yotes move him?
I would look at Runblad instead, or maybe Ekholm in Nashville, they're not world beaters, but young puck movers to build around

I could see the Coyotes possibly moving Yandle, to clear room for Rundblad, or more likely Brandon Gormley.
I'd love to snag Gormley. I think he's going to be an out and out stud. |

Campbell's contract looks worse after the Streit signing, (having both could hurt us)
Unless Luke can play himself out of his funk, I would either keep him, or use him in a package, I'm hopeful he can, and stay in the mix.
I'm hopeful anyway, but a young forward would be the asset in getting what we need more than likely |
