Campbell's contract looks worse after the Streit signing, (having both could hurt us)
Unless Luke can play himself out of his funk, I would either keep him, or use him in a package, I'm hopeful he can, and stay in the mix.
I'm hopeful anyway, but a young forward would be the asset in getting what we need more than likely - puckhead17
If they add a defenseman, they'll likely have to dump one, either via waivers or in the trade.
I'm looking at Campbell with a cap hit around $3.57mm. My condition is that the Panthers eat half the contract, as they did with Versteeg when he was traded to the Blackhawks.
Campbell for 2.5 years at $3.57mm is workable |

I could see the Coyotes possibly moving Yandle, to clear room for Rundblad, or more likely Brandon Gormley.
I'd love to snag Gormley. I think he's going to be an out and out stud. - Jsaquella
I think Yandle would be too expensive, 2 young forwards but which one's thats the thing, but yeah, I would be interested, just haven't heard he was available. |

agreed, but again, I'm not giving them a good young player, i don't know, he's 34, when I look at him, all I can think is here we go again.
But, yes for the $$$ IF Florida eats 1/2, but I don't know, one of our good young forwards may get one of Phoenix's young guys, (in a perfect world) |

I'm nit suggesting a good young player...I'm suggesting Luke Schenn
I know he's not as bad as he's shown this season, but I don't see him being much more than a 2nd pair guy at his best. Too slow to make reads and too slow afoot. I know he can get better, but Jesus is he frustrating.
And honestly, if they did this, they could still go after one of the kid from Phoenix |

he's still only 24, so I am hopeful, and he wasn't a mirage last season, so if we can add 2 solid guys in the mix, he may blend in along with Coburn.
It's not as if I drive to work every morning wishing he could find a better defenseman, actually, yes, sadly I do

I guess it's because I don't see Grossmann going anywhere, and he and Schenn are too redundant for me. |

Grossmann although extremely limited, does perform to his strengths I believe |

He does...the problem is when he has the puck on his stick and gets pressured |

oh that, yes, besides that of course.
Now I'm getting even more depressed
And, although rumors have very little worth, we're reading about Pacioretty?

The Flyers, according to Larry Brooks, have made several calls about him.
He'd be a great addition. But he's going to cost a ton to add. |

Makes no sense from Montreal's position either
he's their only scorer over 5'8" |

He's also got a great, cap friendly deal, is just 25 years old and is very good.
Of course, it didn;t say he was being shopped, only that the Flyers called to ask |

completely agree! I would love to have him!
& yes, nothing that he was available, or even being dangled, but it doesn't make any sense, even for Philly to inquire about him, we have too many other problems |

I'd still like a better 3rd wheel on the Giroux/Voracek line...who knows maybe there's no deal out there for defense, so Homer's doubling down on scoring?
Maybe he's looking at Pacioretty & a defenseman from the Habs? I expect it to cost a ton-and that's if Habs don't just laugh at him |

honestly, there has to be something, maybe he's reluctant after the JVR deal, I can see that as a factor, possibly, but he has to do something, and not just at the deadline.
Maybe another 8 player trade, (Flett, Lonsberry), like back in 72? |

If the Habs traded Pacioretty fr Brayden Schenn, the fans would riot, burn down the Bell Centre, Hang, tar & Feather, Draw and Quarter and behead Marc Bergevin...and then they'd get nasty.
Pacioretty would be a perfect fit for the Flyers top line. Not getting him for less than Couturier +. He's had a 30 goal season, and was on pace for another last year, and again this year...he'd cost an arm & leg and probably a testicle, too - Jsaquella

Schenn is younger and doesn't have the injury history, so if I had to choose which to move, I'm keeping Schenn and assuming he remains on par or surpasses Grossmann. |

also, again, probably because he cost us JVR, unless he's being moved for someone meaningful we will hold on & hope he corrects the funk he's been in
edit, now with Gus out we have L Schenn Grossmann & Gill all in the same lineup
which is fine for say, 1974 |

Still, after all that, I'm not really sure what jsaq is getting at. Is he trying to say Pacioretty would tough to acquire?

Agreed. It would be pretty f'n horrible to move another top 5 pick and watch him blossom elsewhere in a year. |
