I always hated him so much. What made him so much worse was that we had to give up Upshall to get him. The team tried to make an excuse that we needed more toughness when we all know it was a cap move to keep Giroux from being sent down. Not saying Upshall is some great player, but he was certainly more valuable than Carcillo, Carcillo, Dan Carcillo

honestly, i think thats one of my main reasons ive always disliked the flyers. it had more to do with their average "fan". look at the current squad you guys have. its hard as a hockey fan to not respect guys such as matt read, or kimmo timonen. outside of like the irrelevant rinaldo, you guys dont even have anyone to really dislike that much. i get the whole rivalry thing, i do. but for me its mainly centered around the throngs of fans that just drive me nuts. that stereotype is alive and well in the minds of tons of annoying individuals. the whole dudeeeee we should have never gotten rid of carbomb!!!! were the bullies man! look! i have a shirt that says Fly on it! get it! the flyers logo is shaped like a fist! because we are the toughest! Hey wait a minute! they totally didnt call that trip on our guy, the refs totally hate us.

and you know what, i guarantee you timonen would probably still kill off 30 seconds of a powerplay on one leg. exactly. that is toughness. not some idiot on skates.

I just hate how the Flyers always take young 'enforcers' because they need time to develop and understand how to play their game. They need to get these guys later in their careers when they understand how to add energy but not hurt their team with dumb penalties and dumb plays.

Flyers left winger Scott Hartnell, two years removed from scoring a career-high 37 goals, is not having his best season.

Off the ice, however, he is an all-star.

Fact is, there is no one on the Flyers - and perhaps in the entire NHL - who does more for kids than Hartnell. A self-deprecating sort, Hartnell didn't get angry a few years ago when Flyers fan Seth Hastings gently poked fun at him by starting a #HartnellDown hashtag on Twitter. The hashtag was in reference to Hartnell's habit of falling down on the ice. The good-natured Hartnell embraced the idea and it has created a cottage industry that includes #HartnellDown merchandise, a website that features a Down-O-Meter that tracks his falls, and a charitable foundation.

All to aid kids.

During a question-and-answer period, a patient who was about 4 years old, had a serious inquiry.

"Is Sidney Crosby really a crybaby?" he asked.

Hartnell, who had his 500th career point in Monday's 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild, couldn't contain his laughter.

"Absolutely," he said of the Pittsburgh Penguins star.

when i go on rants about hartnell, its more just about how as an nhl player he is more of a problem than a solution for a team anymore. that being said, ive never heard anything but awesome things about him as a person.

I thought Laperriere was the best 'tough guy' this team has had in so long. He was smart, played well defensively and played great on the PK. He would fight anyone and you could roll him out with 5 minutes left and a 1 goal lead without worrying. He was the perfect 4th liner.

i used to respect asham a good bit. was what he was, even had some touch for a goonish guy. but then a lot of stuff, most of which was in a penguins sweater if i recall, really turned me off to him.

He can be so effective when he's on his game. He's gone through these stretches in the past where he's ineffective and undisciplined. Then, all of the sudden, he finds great chemistry and becomes the fan favorite who scores goals then fights Phaneuf just as the puck crosses the line.
